GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 tells an emotional tale about the Guardians risking their lives to save a friend. The crazed scientist who experimented created Rocket, the wise-cracking racoon character, wants him returned. One of the villain’s rogue colleagues comes to the Guardians’ headquarters and mortally wounds Rocket. The villain has planted a coded device in Rocket to stop anyone from reviving him. So, while Rocket hangs on for dear life in their spaceship’s medical facility, the Guardians must infiltrate the villain’s huge lab to retrieve the device’s code and save Rocket.

SWEETWATER is the little-known story of basketball player Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton who became the first black player in the NBA. The movie starts with Jim Caviezel in a cameo as a sportswriter who gets in a cab and recognizes the older Sweetwater as his driver. He asks incredulously why Nat is driving a cab. Jump back to 1949, where Nat’s playing for the Harlem Globetrotters in an exhibition game with NBA world champion Minneapolis Lakers. The rest of the movie shows how Nat broke the racial barrier to become the first black player with the New York Knicks.

THE WAY is an inspiring, captivating movie about the spiritual journey of a father who lost his son on a religious pilgrimage in Europe. Tom, an agnostic eye doctor, goes to pick up his son’s body in France. There, he learns about the religious pilgrimage his son was taking when he died suddenly. The Camino de Santiago is a spiritual journey starting in France and leading to the Catholic church in Santiago in Northwestern Spain, where tradition says the remains of Jesus Christ’s brother, St. James, are buried. Feeling guilt and wanting to reconnect with his dead son, Tom decides to walk the path himself. Along the way, he meets several other people doing the same thing, and his hardened heart is transformed.

GUY RITCHIE’S THE COVENANT follows the story of U.S. Army Sergeant John Kinley and his new Afghan interpreter, Ahmed. The Taliban ambush Kinley and kill all his men at a weapons cache. Ahmed and Kinley must evade the Taliban and flee into the brutal Afghan wilderness. Kinley is shot, but Ahmed summons what strength he has left to get Kinley home. Ahmed and his family continue to live in hiding after the American miliary withdraws. The tale of his heroic rescue of Kinley spreads. Kinley vows to help Ahmed and his family no matter what.

IT AIN’T OVER is a documentary about the life of famed New York Yankees catcher, Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra. Yogi was a larger-than-life presence to his teammates, family and all who knew him. The movie details his feats as a formidable major league player, his personal life, and his “Yogi-isms,” hilarious, nonsensical sayings for which he became famous. One of the funniest is, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Many of his sayings became popular American idioms, such as “It ain’t over til it’s over,” a reference to the final ninth inning of professional baseball.

ANXIOUS NATION is an important documentary about the anxiety that seems to be plaguing many young people today. The movie discusses the problem and offers solutions. The movie shows the hardships of growing up with anxiety, and how parents can help their child through it all. The movie warns viewers that feelings of anxiety sometimes can lead to depression and suicide. Experts are shown talking about ways to combat anxiety and mental health in a healthy way, so parents can help their children navigate an imperfect world.

PATTERNS OF EVIDENCE: JOURNEY TO MOUNT SINAI II is a documentary where investigative filmmaker Timothy Mahoney examines three of six possible sites for Mount Sinai where God gave Moses and his followers the Ten Commandments. After rejecting three sites in the first movie, Mahoney and his crew visit the remaining three sites. Mahoney talks to archeologists and historians about the three sites. They look at possible campsites leading to the mountains. They examine the physical attributes around them, and any ancient artifacts or inscriptions. For example, is there enough water and is there a possible altar?

THE POPE’S EXORCIST gives the Vatican’s chief exorcist from 1992 to 2016 the Hollywood treatment. At 63, Father Gabriele Amorth has only been the apprentice of the Vatican’s chief exorcist for a year, since 1986. Although Father Amorth won’t take that position himself until 1992, he’s proven himself to be a wise, capable defender of the Faith against Satan’s minions. A year later, the good priest faces his biggest challenge. A powerful demon has taken possession of an American boy at a Spanish abbey with an awful past.

CHUPA is a delightful, animated fantasy on Netflix. It follows the adventures of a Mexican boy from Kansas, Alejandro, who meets a young Chupacabra on summer vacation in Mexico with his grandfather and his two cousins. Alejandro decides to try and return his new friend to its mother. However, a scientist doing research in the area, who seeks the creature for selfish reasons, tries to capture Chupa.

POLITE SOCIETY is an action comedy from Britain about two sisters from a Pakistani Muslim family. Ria is a high school student who attends a martial arts class and longs to be a Hollywood stuntwoman. Her older sister, Lena, has quit her dream of being an artist. Later, Ria becomes upset when Lena starts going out with Salim, a handsome rich young doctor with an overbearing mother. When Lena and Salim get engaged only a month later, Ria is furious that Lena has given up on her dreams. She decides to sabotage the wedding but is surprised when she discovers that the plans Salim and his mother have for Lena are much worse than she imagined.
