Welcome back to Major League baseball (kinda)! In the words of Bob Uecker movielifecrisis is best and so are baseball movies that may or may not be good still.
Spoiler alert: it is still good. Charlie Sheen's sleek, 90s apartment. Tom Berenger's gimp knee. Uncredited Randy Quaid stealing crowd scenes. Bob Uecker in the booth bringing heat. Omar Epps playing Wesley Snipes playing Willie Mays Hayes. And so, so, so much more!

The film remake of the late 50s TV show (starring James Garner), Maverick is the comedy western tale of rakish gambler (Mel Gibson) and the cast of weirdos (Alfred Molina, Jodie Foster, James Garner) all racing towards a half million dollar poker tourney aboard a steamboat. Written by William Goldman and directed by Richard Donner, this thing is jam-packed with surprisingly good times.
Also Jeff and JT discuss whether poker is a sport.

Quentin Tarantino's magnum opus, Samuel L. Jackson's and Ving Rhames and Uma Thurman's launching point, John Travolta and Bruce Willis' comeback movie: Pulp Fiction.
Yes, it's as good as you remember.

And if you can manage to find it kicking around the internet and/or the $5.50 bin, it is a delight!

Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, back at it again but for the first time on our podcast.
There's something wonderful about the crotchety, cantankerous old coots slinging really dated insults at each other. Also Kevin Pollak, Darryl Hannah, and Ann Margret.

Hello! DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY!
Yes, it's the 2nd biggest movie of 1993, Robin Williams cross-dresses to take care of his own kids after being divorced by Sally Fields (based on a true story [🧢]).

The timeless underdog story of Rudy Ruettiger, and the 90 minute infomercial for Notre Dame, is finally upon. But seriously, the movie and the score are fantastic, and with 25 years of Catholic school between Jeff and JT we got jokes.

Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver star in this Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) comedy, which despite not being anywhere streaming was a big hit in 1993. Kevin Kline is a presidential impersonator who's pressed into service as the actual president suffers a stroke. Hilarity and personal growth ensues!
Written by Gary Ross (Big), and also starring Frank Langella, Frank Dunn, and an early Ving Rhames (along with Sir Ben Kingsley!).
This one is still absolutely masterful.
