  • Biden's Boarder Policy Is Very Different From Trump's Policy
President Biden took long-expected executive action Tuesday that will turn away migrants seeking asylum who cross the southern border illegally at times when there is a high volume of daily encounters.
The order will be in effect when the seven-day average of daily border crossings exceeds 2,500 between ports of entry, senior administration officials said, meaning it will go into effect immediately. Biden issued a proclamation announcing the change under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Senior administration officials framed the order as a response to congressional inaction on immigration after a bipartisan framework in the Senate was blocked by Republicans for a second time.
Administration officials walked a tightrope announcing the order, a forceful but targeted shift on asylum rights — one that administration officials said is not comparable to the Trump administration’s system-wide crackdowns.

  • Thwaites 'Doomsday Glacier' in Antarctica is melting much faster than predicted
A team of scientists say seawater flowing underneath and into gaps in the Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica is contributing to the melting of the massive ice formation — a potentially ominous sign of the coming effects of human-driven climate change from the world's widest glacier.
These areas of the glacier may be undergoing "vigorous melting" from warm ocean water caused by climate change, which could lead to even more rapid sea-level rise around the globe.
The Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica — nicknamed the “Doomsday Glacier” because its collapse could cause catastrophic sea level rise — is the world’s widest glacier and roughly the size of Florida. It’s also Antarctica’s most vulnerable and unstable glacier, in large part because the land on which it sits slopes downward, allowing ocean waters to eat away at its ice.
Thwaites, which already contributes 4% to global sea level rise, holds enough ice to raise sea levels by more than 2 feet. But because it also acts as a natural dam to the surrounding ice in West Antarctica, scientists have estimated its complete collapse could ultimately lead to around 10 feet of sea level rise — a catastrophe for the world’s coastal communities.

  • Are Men Raised To Be Likable?
    Hey gang.
It's interesting seeing men in my comments after making post about their heroes, Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson.
They seem to have a tough time simply interacting with women without angrily spouting their favorite talking points.
I don't know what they think they'll get out of being unlikable and maladaptive but they seem to have really brought into the idea that being recalcitrant and standoffish is an attuted that will win friends and build relationships.

  • NFL Kicker Brandon McManus Accused Of Sexual Assault
    CBS/NFL
Brandon McManus and the Jacksonville Jaguars are being sued by two women who allege McManus sexually assaulted them during the team's overseas flight to London last year, according to court documents obtained by ESPN. The two women, identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, filed the lawsuit in Duval County (Florida) Circuit Civil Court on Friday.
McManus, 32, is accused of rubbing himself against them and grinding against them. The lawsuit also alleges that the Jaguars failed to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for the staff serving the team. They are seeking in excess of $1 million and demand a jury trial.
Per the lawsuit, the women were serving as flight attendants on the Sept. 28, 2023 flight to London. The Jaguars were in London for two weeks playing in back-to-back games for the NFL's international slate. The first game occurred on Sunday, Oct. 1 against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium.
The flight, an Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings charter flight, is alleged to have "quickly turned into a party." McManus and other players disregarded the flight attendants' personal space and the veteran kicker is alleged to have attempted to recruit three other flight attendants to the party by passing out $100 bills to have them drink and dance inappropriately.
Jane Doe I claims McManus tried to kiss her when she was seated due to turbulence and twice grinded up against her when she was serving the flight's meal services. Meanwhile, Jane Doe II claims McManus grinded up against her when she was serving the flight's second meal.

  • Phoenix Calida Reacts To Seattle City councilmember Cathy Moore On Loitering Law
KOMO News - "An explosion of sex trafficking," is how one Seattle city council member described what's happening along Aurora Avenue in north Seattle.
Some business owners and residents told KOMO News something needs to be done.
During a recent community public safety meeting, councilmember Cathy Moore said one tool she's considering to address the issue is a proposal to reinstate Seattle’s loitering law.
Moore told a packed room of community members in late April that she believes the spike in sex trafficking is linked in part to the repeal of the city's loitering law back in 2020.
The moment Moore suggested reinstating the loitering law as a potential tool to address the spike in sex trafficking the room erupted in applause.

The daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) says she was “basically evicted” after she was suspended from Columbia University’s Barnard College on Friday for participating in pro-Palestinian protests on campus.
Hundreds of students have occupied Columbia’s campus for days, protesting the Biden administration’s response to the Israel-Hamas war, backing a cease-fire in the conflict, and urging Congress to stop sending military aid to Israel.
