So you've been rejected. That sucks. Sorry. But what kind of rejection? There's the obvious one we all know, romantic rejection. But there are also professional rejections, like not getting a job or getting into a school or program. Then there's being rejected as a friend, or generally, as a human being. And with the ubiquity of social networks, there are now more ways than ever to be rejected.

I recently moved Must Triumph to a new podcasting host. Now, none of this should matter to you. What's supposed to happen is, all the platforms you listen from should seamlessly switch over from the old host to the new host. But sometimes that doesn't happen. So to make sure your feed has been updated, I've uploaded this episode and if after a few days you see a new episode after this one, then you're good. You don't have to do anything.
But if this is the last episode you see on your feed forever, then your feed somehow didn't update.

It takes a lot of creativity to be angry and miserable. But you can't use up misery, you'll always have more. Misery isn't something that builds up, like a pressure cooker, it's more like an addiction or habit. And just as using more drugs doesn't get drug addiction out of your system, constantly venting misery doesn't make misery go away.
Writer and poet Maya Angelou said, "You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” And that's the same for misery, the more you use, the more you have.

Life is experiential, and exercise should improve our capacity for experience and readiness for living. It's in the chase for better body parts that we miss becoming a better self.

This is a simulcast from my other podcast called Southpaw:
We chat with Professor/ Coach Gordon Marino about his new book "The Existentialist's Survival Guide: How to Live Authentically in an Inauthentic Age," the benefits of existential philosophy, the coach/ athlete relationship, and then we cover lots and lots of boxing. It's one of our most fun episodes.
Gordon Marino is a professor of philosophy at St. Olaf College. A veteran boxing coach, Marino is also an award-winning boxing writer for The Wall Street Journal and has worked with HBO boxing. His work has appeared in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Newsweek, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and many other domestic and international publications.
You can find Gordon on Twitter at: @GordonMarino
You can find "The Existentialist's Survival Guide" on Amazon at: https://amzn.to/2Tzkjcf
If you'd like to email Gordon, you can find him at: [email protected]
Also per Gordon's suggestion, check out "Crito" by Plato (The dialogue takes place in Socrates' prison cell, where he awaits execution. He is visited before dawn by his old friend Crito, who has made arrangements to smuggle Socrates out of prison to the safety of exile): http://classics.mit.edu/Plato/crito.html

Often it is the warrior like Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi (c. 1584 – 1645) who is more applicable to the everyday person than a philosopher or monk. It is not that we need a more adversarial viewpoint or that Musashi gives us better insight than German philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein or Taoist poet Chuang Tzu. Warriorship is philosophy delivered through a code of living—which is much easier to implement.
