Happy Father’s Day!

As a husband and father, I want to do my best to take care of my family. One example is when we travel anywhere I do the driving. Sitting in the driver’s seat isn’t about control but about caring and protecting. But if I insist on sitting in the driver’s seat in my life, my heavenly Father is not able to direct me in His best will for me.

Following Jesus means denying ourselves, giving up control, letting Jesus in the driver’s seat.

This final message of our journey through the snapshots of Mark’s stories presents the theme Watch! Jesus responds to the questions of the disciples regarding His prediction of the temple’s destruction. He gives them a quick look into the future at the things that will transpire. Although He gives no timeline of events, He does describe signs that will indicate His eventual return is nearing. He also provides warnings to be on guard against various deceptions. Jesus finishes with a parable that helps disciples keep their focus in the right place.

Jesus appointed 12 men as apostles and then concentrated His efforts on teaching and training them. As they followed and observed His ministry of power, authority, compassion, and restoration they soon had opportunities to emulate Him.

Jesus invites us to follow Him and learn from Him. It’s a life-long process.
