Jesus often used gardening word pictures to help people understand the spiritual truth in what He was teaching. In our passage for this week, Jesus specifically points to a vine and its branches to demonstrate how we as branches draw our life from Jesus the Vine. If you have ever moved house, you know that it doesn’t take long to accumulate stuff. Often it is stuff you didn’t realize you had and it has just become clutter. More than just stuff can clutter up our lives. Our time gets cluttered with way too many activities. Sometimes those too many activities are good things, but taken to the extreme of no longer being effective because we are stretched too thin. Our budget can get cluttered with maintaining this cluttered lifestyle and the good pushes out the best. This week we will look at the life and teaching of Jesus to learn how we can declutter our lives and live simply.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Later in His message, Jesus gives more detail to what peace making is about. Making peace is not passive and it’s not the same as just keeping the peace. Jesus calls for an active response to evil, persecution, and hate. However, that response is not revenge or retaliation. In our message this week we’ll learn how to wage peace like the sun shines and the rain falls.

This week we will learn from Jesus’ example how to serve other with humility and compassion.

More share-worthy than being rescued from darkness by the Light of the world? Witnessing to the world doesn’t have to be a difficult, burdensome, structured, awkward presentation with intent to convince and convert. Sharing our story is the natural response of an overflowing heart with joy-filled awareness of our blessings and riches in Christ. Go, tell your story! Pastor Ron.
