MTR Network Main Feed

Kriss and Dpalm are back with another...wait...is this a Character Corner or a  Comic Book Book Club? If you didn't know we're trying something new on the Character Corner podcast feed. We'll still be doing break downs of our favorite characters but in order to bring new content to the listeners, we're also going to be bringing some Comic Book Book Club episodes to the Character Corner. For this episode, we continue our dive into IDW's Transformers world with Chaos Theory, Last Stand of the Wreckers and Sins of the Wreckers.

Now I know what you're thinking "Transformers? Really?" But these books are fantastic. Go listen to the IDW Primer also on the feed as well as when we discussed the first 22 issues of More Than Meets the Eye. Once you get over the initial hump of reading about giant robots you'll realize how human and real these books are. They deal with a lot of relevant topics in today's world:

Topics:

Chaos Theory:

• Optimus Prime...sorry...Orion Pax is a bad ass
• Optimus and Megatron were almost on the same sidea
• Never Forget: This is all Whirl's fault

Last Stand of the Wreckers

• A stark reminder that War isn't fun and has lasting affects
• Here are the rules to be a Wrecker....as the Wreckers break every single one of them
• Overlord is a sociopath
• The reason why Fortress Maximus had PTSD over Overlord and Garrius-9
• The Autobots had their fair share of war crimes
• We're not saying Impactor was right but...we understand.

Sins of the Wreckers

• Calling Prowl a "prick" is a bit of an understatement
• Who Springer really is

If you sign up for premium you can hear us talk about the end of More Than Meets the Eye which also tie into these issues as well.

Sometimes one of the greatest days of your life can turn in an instant  and you end up playing basketball for the Phoenix Suns. Such is the story of Mikel Bridges and his almost storybook ending for the local boy made good. We've got the EIC of the entire network with us this week to unpack the legacy of Ronda Rousey, the reintroduction of Puma to the world of men's basketball, Jameis Winston's uncanny ability to always make the worst choices, and a surprising voice speaking out against youth football. Plus, check out the NFL's rebuke of Cheeto Hitler.

They stuck the landing!  We got amazing Black Fatherhood, a satisfying conclusion to the Mon-El/Kara romance, a happy ending for Ruby and Sam, the departure of Winn, and a completely changed landscape in the Supergirl Universe.  And they have seeded Red Daughter of Krypton for season 4!

We encourage everyone starting this show to go ahead and watch season 1.  Although it's a struggle, we think it's important to see how the show has grown better with each season.

I don't mean to worry anyone, but it is my sworn duty to inform you all that Kevin Durant is in serious jeopardy of being soetnign of a sucker. No, no not for that thing that was just good business. His latest brusher with suckerhood has come with a GM popping off at the mouth, but when you've got Rich Fann from PWTorch on you can cover this, LeBron's place in history, Kawahi's place post-Spurs, Baseball trying to put horses back in barns, the place of the NFL holdout in 2018, and of course, Pro Wrestling.

It's been 14 years since the first Incredibles film. Has it been worth the wait? Absolutely.

Kriss, Phenom and Ashley discuss what works for this film and what might be at the bottom of the handful of negative reviews (Hint: It's cause the film centers women). This is a great film, continuing Pixar's tradition of having enough here for both adults and kids. Truth be told, there might be more here for adults than the kids.

Oh and the short film that airs before is designed specifically to punch you in the guts and give you all the feels.

Luke Cage Season 2 is bigger, more emotionally dark and better than Season 1. Season 2 really feels like it takes all the issues with the first season and addresses them to make this more of a black family crime drama than super hero show. And that's a good thing.

A lot of things work for this season:

• A villain that challenges Luke both physically and mentally
• The Family First theme of the season
• Alfre Woodard's transformation with Mariah
• The comic book teamups (Daughters of the Dragon, Powerman and Iron Fist)
• The way the music is integrated into season and is important to understanding the themes and scenes
• Not making Luke the central piece but leaving his character in a really interesting place
• and more

Check out Kriss' video review as well as the audio review with Kriss & Phenom. We'll be back later with more in depth discussions of this season after it drops on the 22nd of June.

THEY KILLED DEMOS!  YOU BASTARDS!

The Doctor is furious that they killed one of our two favorite agents.  It's a great and action packed episode but did they have to kill our boy?  We watch as Papa J'onzz transfers his life experiences to J'onn in preparation for his passing, Alura arrives on Earth, and that dummy Coleville helps the Dark Priestesses resurrect Reign.  The finale promises to be heartbreaking.  Killing a major side character hit hard, and we get a feeling not everyone is going to make it out of the finale alive.  The only drawback-this was a great opportunity to give Reign a truly iconic look in her rebirth.  They didn't take it, but it definitely doesn't take away from the story.
