We’re a few weeks out from Thor: Ragnorak being released so I guess it’s time to drop our latest Character Corner: Thor Part 1!

First off, we recorded this over a month ago so please excuse any outdated references. If you’re listening to this I’m assuming Trump hasn’t killed us all so that’s a positive. Anyway, in this first part of a two part series, we cover Thor Volume 1 and Thor Volume 2. Our main focus though is the Walt Simonson run from volume 1 that ran from issues 337 – 382. Simonson both wrote and draw these issues and the entire run is a masterpiece. He introduces Beta Ray Bill, gives us an epic battle with Sutur, Skurge’s Last Stand and even turns Thor into a frog. It’s a wonderful run that is always at the top of any “Best of Thor” list.

We then get into Dan Jurgen’s volume 2 which starts off rough but really picks up with the death of Odin and Thor taking over as the All Father. We find out why Thor’s connection to humanity is needed and the disastrous results if Thor fully embraces being a God without that connection. And then Ragnorak comes.

In both volumes 1 & 2 we see the story of Ragnorak with volume 2 fully seeing Ragnorak coming to fruition. If you want to prepare for Thor: Ragnorak come November 3rd, make sure you listen to this Character Corner, then check out the issues below. Every issue should be on Marvel Unlimited, so get to reading.

2017 may be trash in a lot of very important ways, but Columbia and Georgia are undefeated so I don't see the problem. We've got Rich Fann from PWTorch and Buffalo Wins.net talking about the problems on the men's side of US Soccer, the Left getting football in the culture war, no one loving Kevin Durant and even tell tale on when football quit him. Plus we get some insight into the messy quarterback picture in Buffalo, check in on the MLB playoffs, and college football went full chaos.

Inhumans is slowly finding its footing but with the shorter season, there's not much time left to rebound completely. That said, episode 4, Make Way For...Medusa is probably the best episode so far. There are still some issues with this episode. We wish that they focused only on Maximus, Black Bolt and Medusa this episode. That doesn't mean the other scenes were bad (well, except for Crystal) but it would have been nice just to stay focused on those three without making the episode feel overly stuffed.

The last of our returning shows is here, Arrow Season 6. After the great season 5, we were a little nervous about how this season would start off but so far so good. The advances to Oliver's character from last season seem to be sticking and it's almost jarring not seeing a broken Oliver. The rest of the team however, does have a lot of demons. From Diggle to Quentin...even Oliver's son William (although Kriss thinks William needs to get his shit together). Check out our full review.

We're back from New York Comic-Con! Brandon (@Phenomblak) joins Kriss to talk about NYCC 2017 and how much we've grown from the first Con back in 2013. We talk about what was different this time, some of our equipment, why we can no longer run a two-person crew anymore and more.

On the surface Happy Death Day just seems like another Groundhog Day rip off that is bound to be stupid and suck. So imagine our surprise when...we actually enjoyed it. This film is extremely self aware and so it avoids a lot of the pitfalls of other teen PG-13 horror films. The writing is pretty smart, it's funny and bottom line, entertaining. Not much more you can ask for. Listen to our full non-spoiler review for all the details on why you should check this film out.

Legends of Tomorrow returns for season 3 by continuing to focus on its strong suits. Aruba-Con sees the Legends being “fired” by Rip Hunter who has now formed the Time Bureau to handle all time anomalies. But we quickly see that Captain Sara Lance and the Legends can be just as useful as they can be destructive. As Mick said “Sometimes we screw things up for the better.”

We’re back with another season of The Flash. We were disappointed with the end of season 3 of The Flash but we’re confident that season 4 will turn it around. And the first episode, The Flash Reborn, starts off pretty strong. The writers seem to be course correctly out the gate with several of the problems we had last season

Six months after the Battle in National City and the departure of Mon-El, Supergirl works feverishly to kill the human side of her as a way of coping with her loss.  While the  Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Heros) begins to make moves aimed at building his empire and destroying Lena Luthor.  Meanwhile, a young mother (Odette Annabele, Banshee) discovers a disturbing power and has a horrific dream that appears to connect her to Supergirl and Krypton.

Welcome back to episode 7 of Secret Sauce! On the show today we start with an article that is focused on empowering young black women to take control of their lives: sexually, physically and emotionally. Then we meet Graeme Seabrook a life coach who wants each of us to take more time to take care of ourselves. She has a virtual retreat coming up called Self Care in Color on October 16th and you are invited! Lastly we listen to a little stand up comedy from the hilarious Janelle James. Her new album Black and Mild is out and you need to own it. Thank you for joining us!!
