This is our Oscar Sprint Profile of the Netflix Original Movie, Mudbound. Co-Written by Virgil Williams & Director Dee Rees with cinematographer Rachel Morrison, we offer more bio/filmographies on the crew here because of the history making nature of the production. Then we have some fun chronicling the robust careers of the stellar cast including Mary J. Blige, Jason Clarke, Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jonathan Banks, Rob Morgan, and movie star on the rise, Jason Mitchell.
The production profile showcases our favorite quotes and stories from the promotional tours for the movie including heartfelt tales about the family histories and story inception moments for the novelist, director, and their cast. As always, we give you all the movie specs including the rising acclaim of the critics and surging awards buzz. Our review of the production values laud the cinematography by Rachel Morrison, and it’s a gush fest once again in regards to one of the best ensemble casts of the year.
Our final thoughts before spoilers have to move past some of the many positives about the film, however. We must be honest with our listeners, and we introduce some of the flaws we feel are with the script, which we flush out fully in the spoiler section. We’ve been wrestling with the story for awhile, and although it’s merits are undeniable, the drama critics we are must make an appearance in this episode. As we say throughout the show, please do get at us with your thoughts.
