Multiversal Soldiers

Our Heroes are pleasantly surprised by the charm of Powerless, a short-lived 2017 Workplace Sitcom set firmly in the middle of the pedestrian end of the DC Universe. Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) and her rag-tag R&D team try to bring relevance to Wayne Security, the overlooked Insurance division of Wayne Enterprises, headed up by Bruce's megalomaniac cousin Van (Alan Tudyk). It's Justice League meets The Office...a premise that should have been a home-run!

Our Heroes take a much deserved break with some Saturday Morning Cartoons! Put on your favorite underoos and grab a bowl of cereal as we dig into everything from Funimation's Superman and Aquaman shows all the way to Ralph Bakshi's (Fritz the Cat) Spider-Man. The 60's were the first decade to feature recognizable heroes in weekly adventures on your TV screen, a concept that is still thriving today. See where it all began, and relive some of your childhood memories as we get the Spider-Man theme song stuck in our heads all over again.

Our Heroes are joined by John Delucca (Garbage Theatre) to lend his critical eye to 2005's Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie Man-Thing. Loosely adapted from the Marvel comics from the 70's, this Australian produced nightmare had the blessing of Marvel Producer Avi Arad and was directed by The Lawnmower Man Director Brett Leonard. Sit back and enjoy this disgusting morality tale set in the deep swamps of Sydney.

Our Heroes regretfully conclude the thrill ride that has been the first season of Swamp Thing (1990). This was truly a series filled with redemptions, including Tressa finally confronting her estranged Ex-Husband, Arcane repeatedly cheating on and begging forgiveness from his comatose lover, and the continuing adventures of a Semi-Retired Pediatrician. While we must move on to new adventures, our hearts will always be in the swamp.

Our Heroes wade deeper into Swamp Thing in Part 2 of our Miniseries and find themselves both shocked and awed by some drastic course correction. Things get dark and moody on the sets of Orlando, and poor Jim gets human trafficked out of the plot entirely. These are some seriously nutty episodes of television, so strap in and get yourself a plate of mango meatloaf!

Our Heroes kick off the New Year with a new adventure deep in the swamps of Orlando as they explore the 1990 television adaptation of Swamp Thing.  Spinning off of the moderately successful B-Movies, Dick Durock dons the rubber suit once again to reprise his role as Swampy - a bio-geneticist turned elemental god-like creature with a heart of gold. This show has everything: annoying children, rubber suit fights, and a smarmy British Mad Scientist that kind of looks like Tom Hiddleston if you squint!

Our Heroes treat themselves to a brief holiday reprieve with the 1979 Hanna Barbara Produced Legends of the Superheroes Television Special.  Adam West and Burt Ward reprise their roles as the dynamic duo in a not-so-dynamic combination of live-action adventure and Dean Martin Roast.  Not even Ed McMahon and a bottle of Scotch could save this ill-conceived vaudevillian fever dream.

Our heroes mercifully wrap up their Mutant X miniseries as they recap the last 7 episodes of season 1. Who is in charge of admissions at Genome-X Academy? What exactly is a "feral mutant"?  Why does this show sound like it was filmed in a leather store? Mike and Rob briefly address these questions and more as they look to escape this multiverse for a new adventure!

Our Heroes test their resolve as they dig deeper into the Multiversal Anomaly that is Mutant X. What is this show's obsession with Sandra Bullock's "The Net"? Where is Sanctuary on a map? Why is Adam so creepy? The answers don't actually matter because we get some really X-cellent Guest Stars in this otherwise nonsensical chunk of episodes!

Our Heroes begin their next adventure: Mutant X! This Canadian produced series (available on Tubi) somehow ran in syndication for 3 seasons throughout Canada and parts of the US....and Mike and Rob are baffled by its mere existence after almost being sued out of the  Multiverse entirely. The series focused on a group of "New Mutants" and their benevolent leader/disgraced geneticist Adam. Don't expect any cameos from familiar faces, or sly Marvel Easter Eggs....they legally weren't allowed to do any.  Think of it kind of like Degrassi: The Mutant Years.
