In 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin came to the Munich Security Conference to deliver a speech that still reverberates today. He talked about the threat of a “unipolar world.” By this, Putin meant a world in which the United States was the sole superpower.

In this episode, host Jessie Graham takes a look back at the 2003 conference, when German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer confronted U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld was making a case for European nations to join the United States in a coalition against Iraq.
