Sylvia Likens was treated like a punching bag for four months under the care of Gertrude Baniszewski, a woman that Sylvia’s father had hired, to board her and her sister. Gertrude provoked her own children and others to hurt and abuse Sylvia at every opportunity and when things went to far and Sylvia ended up dead, Gertrude went to great lengths to try and cover up the voluntarily nature of the abuse they handed out to Sylvia in 1965.

On Halloween night in 1974, Timothy O’Bryan was allowed a bedtime snack of one of the pieces of candy he had gotten from trick-or-treating. He picked the largest piece, a 20 inch long Pixie Stix. Moments later, Timothy was convulsing on the floor and within an hour he was dead.
