Join us as we dive into "Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit" by John Douglas & Mark Olshaker.

Here we will be discussing our thoughts and feelings about the book, author, and cases. We have already posted two main episodes that were inspired by this book- Episode 33. David Carpenter: The Trailside Killer and Episode 36. The Bizarre Murder of Karla Brown. If you haven't yet, go check them out! If you read the book along with us, it isn't necessary to listen to the case episodes first but we would appreciate it anyways.

Grab your glass and get cozy, let's talk about murder!

In this episode we will be taking a deep dive into the brutal and bizarre murder of the 'All-American Girl', Karla Brown.

Karla was excited to start the next chapter in her life. She had just gotten engaged to her high-school sweetheart and they were moving into their new home. Unfortunately though, her new beginnings had a quick and bitter end. She was murdered before the couple had even spent their first night in their new home.

Not only was her murder shocking, but they way her body was posed was even more disturbing. This did, however, provide great insight as to what happened to this beautiful young woman on June 20, 1978 in Lima, Ohio.

Join us as we discuss the chaotic crime scene, multiple autopsies, controversial evidence, and the FBI's behavioral profile that helped investigators capture the killer.

Make sure to check out our socials and add to the conversation. As always, answer our questions at the end and we might read your response on next week's show!

In this episode we will be taking a deep dive into the case of the Trailside Killer, who was responsible for ten murders from 1979-1981.

Preying on vulnerable hikers in the San Francisco area, Carpenter used the secluded and heavily wooded trails to his advantage. Although he was becoming quite proficient in his murders, the blitz-style attacks told FBI's John Douglas a lot about who the UNSUB was. From there, he was able to provide a detailed and accurate profile that helped catch the killer.

Join us as we discuss the murders, the profile, the killers childhood, early crimes, and his sentencing.

Happy Halloween!

In this special Mourning News episode we won’t be picking up the paper, but we will be picking up some spooky stories!

Michelle tells us about the haunted delivery room at Grace Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.

Terra takes us to long gone Saskatchewan where four campers have a run in with a 'Devil Dog'.

To end the show we share more of our own spooky stories, including ghost pets and Michelle's experiences with haunted houses and hotels. To top it off, during our recording we had ghostly interference with our technology so stick around to the very end to hear us lose our minds.

If you have a spooky story, send it in and we might read it on our next episode!

We are jumping back into the East Coast vs West Coast rap war of the 1990's

After Tupac was murdered in Las Vegas, The Notorious B.I.G. was determined to end the war that they had originally started. Biggie was unable to accomplish that, however, as he was shot dead while in Los Angeles, much like the attack on Tupac.

In this episode, we learn about Biggie's life, his death, and the investigation into his murder, which uncovered one of the largest police scandal's in US history.

In this special Mourning News episode we won’t be picking up the paper, but we will be picking up some spooky stories!

Michelle tells us about the haunted La Boheme Restaurant from Edmonton, Alberta, as she had grown up in the same neighborhood as the spooky old building.

Terra tells the tale of a rancher that wasn’t ready to leave his farm in Black Diamond, Alberta, as he passed away in a sudden and bizarre series of events.

To end the show, Michelle shares a story of her own that involves a baby monitor and a spooky visitor. We guarantee it will give you chills, or your money back! (lucky for us the show is free, but we are still very confident it will creep you out.) There will be a video to go along with this on our socials, so make sure to check it out for the full effect!

If you have a spooky story, send it in and we might read it on our next episode!
