When you think cold weather in the US, you think Alaska, and no killer terrorized our 49th state more than Robert Hansen, better known as Bob The Baker or The Butcher Baker (it’s not known if he ever made candlesticks). After moving from Iowa to Anchorage, Alaska in the 1960s, Hansen engaged in a decade-plus long reign of terror that could’ve gone longer if it hadn’t been for one victim that refused to be victimized. This week, we explore his story.

Murder My Dude, returns with your 115th dose of True Crime Comedy Goodness (patent pending)!

And as a true crime podcast that dabbles in current events, we’d be derelict in our duties if we didn’t cover the tragic killing of Gabby Petito.

Just hours before we recorded this episode, law enforcement confirmed that a body found in a Wyoming park the weekend before was indeed Petito’s, and we discuss the case as part of a super-sized This Week In Murder.

Then it’s on to our topic proper, an alleged femme fatale whose trial ushered in the era of the made-for-TV court case. Pamela Smart, 22 at the time of her husband’s murder, was accused of conspiring with her teenaged paramour in plotting and carrying out the heinous act.

When her life was taken from her all-too-soon, the attention of the media and local prosecutors alike turned to her roommate, the titular “Foxy Knoxy,” Amanda Knox.

A fellow exchange student from the Pacific Northwest and one of Meredith’s roommates, Amanda and her Italian boyfriend found themselves in the eye of the legal and media storm that ensued after Meredith’s senseless killing. What followed was a rollercoaster legal process and a media circus the world won’t soon forget.

When two women, both wearing floral bikinis, washed up on the coasts of Thailand in the mid-1970s, some called their murders the Bikini Killings. After he was apprehended, the man who took their lives - and possibly the lives of as many as two dozen others - was dubbed by some as The Bikini Killer.

However, thanks to a BBC production, later aired in the U.S. through Netflix, many may know Charles Sobhraj by another name: The Serpent.

Just in time for a gripping heat wave, Murder, My Dude goes back deep in the heart of Texas!

Well, not really. This is more East Texas. Almost Louisiana, actually.

But - spoiler alert - the heat does play a part in cracking the mind-bending case at the center of our show this week. Texas oilman Greg Fleniken traveled for work constantly, and he loved his hotel rooms to be like, as his wife would describe, a meat locker. So when he was found dead in a hot, locked hotel room with few signs of external harm but massive internal injuries, police were at a loss to explain what happened, let alone bring his killers to justice.

Before we get into that, though, we discuss an awful roommate in Georgia and a wild shootout in Colorado in This Week In Murder. Later on, as always, we finish with a rousing game of Who Died The Worst!
