Season 2: Episode 8
MURDER OR SUICIDE?
The Ellen Greenberg Case
In January of 2011, Ellen Greenberg was working as a first grade teacher in Philadelphia. She was engaged to Sam Goldberg, a TV producer. One afternoon, Ellen was home early for work due to blizzard conditions in the area, and Sam decided to visit their apartment gym. But he returned to a scene that is in question to this day. Ellen had over 20 stab wounds, including 11 to the BACK OF HER HEAD AND NECK. The initial report listed Ellen’s death as homicide, but after a hushed meeting weeks later, the ruling was changed to suicide, and there it remains. But huge questions loom…not the least of which is: Why did Sam’s uncle, a political influence in town, remove laptops, cell phones, and Ellen’s purse before the scene was cleared? Was a pathology report forged, as is the claim? Did the newly prescribed Klonopin that Ellen was taking put her over the edge? Or do the healing bruises on her body indicate something more insidious in their relationship?
