  • MPM Joana Vasconcelos. Transfiguration

Listen to the podcast of the exhibition “Joana Vasconcelos. Transfiguration” at Museo Picasso Málaga (29 May – 27 September 2026).

A sound essay built around a central question: how something everyday, popular, or intimate can change its state without ceasing to be recognisable. From this notion of transfiguration, the episode explores three key vectors in Vasconcelos’s work as presented in this exhibition: the shift from the domestic to the monumental, the transformation of collective symbols into contemporary imagery, and the conversion of the domestic interior into a spatial experience.

  • MPM "Portable Studio: The Royan Sketchbooks." Episode 1: Fear

In August 1939, the world stands on the brink of war, and Picasso feels the full weight of uncertainty. • MPM Joel Meyerowitz "Photographer on journey" - Episode 4 – The Party’s Over

The return to Málaga, 60 years later, of photographer Joel Meyerowitz.

Welcome to “Photographer on journey”, the podcast of the exhibition “Joel Meyerowitz. Europe 1966–1967”, presented at the Museo Picasso Málaga from 15 June to 15 December 2024.

Paris, 1967. A year before May ’68, the revolution is not yet visible—but absurdity is, and Meyerowitz is drawn to what looks strange in plain sight. From a commercial shoot near Montmartre to a café terrace perched beside street works, the camera records the everyday as a collage of contradictions. Then the journey closes: Naples, a ship, and a final photograph—an old man releasing confetti into the wind. Credits: An original Museo Picasso Málaga production. Written and directed by Bibiana Ricciardi. Sound design and original music by Tomás Borrini. Narrated by Emma Reynolds.

  • MPM Joel Meyerowitz "Photographer on journey" - Episode 3 - Flamenco

The return to Málaga, 60 years later, of photographer Joel Meyerowitz.

Welcome to “Photographer on journey”, the podcast of the exhibition “Joel Meyerowitz. Europe 1966–1967”, presented at the Museo Picasso Málaga from 15 June to 15 December 2024.

Meyerowitz spends six of his twelve European months in Málaga, drawn into the world of the Escalona family, Romani flamenco musicians who turn cante into lived narrative. Recordings, rehearsals, neighbours coming and going, laughter in a modest room: the camera captures a shared atmosphere, not a staged scene. Flamenco becomes both subject and method—an art of rhythm, transmission, and collective memory.

  • MPM Joel Meyerowitz "Photographer on journey" - Episode 2 – The Spell of Málaga

Late 1966. Málaga is opening to international tourism, and the contrasts of the Costa del Sol—modernisation alongside hardship—become the raw material of Meyerowitz’s new photographic language. On these streets, he stops chasing a single “moment” and begins to photograph complexity: overlapping actions, competing focal points, and the ambiguity that gives an image its charge. • MPM Joel Meyerowitz "Photographer on journey" - Episode 1 – The Beginning of the Journey

Joel Meyerowitz is twenty-eight when he leaves New York in August 1966 and arrives in London at the height of Swinging London. From there, he moves on to Ireland, where a fleeting street scene—colour, gestures, glances—reveals why he is drawn to what cannot be posed. The trip is only just beginning, but a question already hangs in the air: what will he find in Málaga that will make him stay for six months?
