Imogen Moon is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Vancouver. She sat with us to talk about her first EP (2019), the journey of re-imagining her grandfather’s music (according to what he originally intended) and releasing an album with it. She also talked to us about finding her own voice and growing up in an artistic environment as daughter of a poet and a singer, and the road to finding financing for releasing an album and finding the right people who believe in your project.

Christine Lee is a Korean-Canadian singer and songwriter based in Vancouver. She talked to us about how she processed loss in her family by writing a song with an ironic beat called Day Drink. She also talked to us about pushing herself to get a grant that financed her debut album called Eat It and learning about songwriting through singing in a cover band. Christine discussed the experience of growing up in two places simultaneously and how it has impacted her perception of music and songwriting. Dey Rose is a singer-songwriter and guitar player from the Philippines currently based in Austria. She talks to us about wanting to study music and then how she got into the sound tech world. She shared with us how she got into a music contest in Vancouver in 2018 and was flown to Los Angeles and later to Manila in The Philippines to perform in the biggest stadium. She also talked to us about the challenges of looking and finding a music community in a country where you’re just getting to know the culture, learning the language, and having a big punk-rock, metal music scene. Dey has just released an album named Evelyn (named after her mother), and you can listen to it on all music platforms.

Nicolás Segura es un guitarrista y guacharaquero colombiano radicado en Montreal. Nos cuenta sobre empezar tocando música Vallenata a los 12 años después de que su abuela y padre le regalaran una guitarra y a los 15 años se interesó por tocar el acordeón. También nos platicó sobre aprender a apreciar la música tradicional colombiana y su historia hasta que llegó a Canadá. Nicolás también nos cuenta sobre la guacharaca y las puertas q este instrumento le ha abierto.

Singer-songwriter & Sad girl. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, Haleluya Hailu is a multi-intrumentalist, poet, and activist. Eclectic, energetic and constantly moving, Hailu manages to turn the awkward transition to adulthood into songs that anyone could lose themselves in.

Chelsea is a singer-songwriter based in Hawaii, she plays keys and guitar. Chelsea talks to us about her journey through studying music and then being able to share that love for music with her son and what jamming together as a family feels like.
