I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 19th of October, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We go to the Song of Songs 6:3 in the Old Testament,
"I am my beloved's,
And my beloved is mine."
What a beautiful statement! It is written no less than three times in the Book Song of Songs. We need to ask ourselves a serious question this morning, is He our beloved or not, or are we just going through the motions? Maybe the cares of this world have robbed us of our intimacy, our first love with the Lover of our souls? How personal is that love affair that you and I have with our Lord Jesus?
Remember, Jesus is the Saviour of the whole world but He is also the Saviour of the individual. He knows how many hairs are on our heads. Isn't that incredible? When we eventually meet Him face to face in Heaven one day, He is going to greet us personally by our first names. That's right - He is not going to welcome us into Heaven like flocks of sheep or herds of cattle. No, He is going to say, "Welcome home, Johnny!" "Oh, Mary, welcome home!"
Looking at the Gospel of John 1:47-48, we can see how personal the Lord is within every individual.
"Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"
Nathanael said to Him, "How do You know me?"
Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
That changed Nathanael's whole life. That's when he became a Christian, "Lord, how did You know me? You have never even seen me before in Your life?" It's so nice, isn't it, when someone remembers you by your first name? It just does something to you. I bought a beautiful silver ring for my wife, Jill, when I was in Israel one time, and the inscription on the inside of the ring says, "I am my beloved's, And my beloved is mine."
Today, please, do not lose that personal, intimate relationship with Jesus. He is waiting to speak to you.
God bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
