Some people cannot comprehend how Jesus, who lived 2,000 years ago, can be relevant to their daily lives today. Perhaps that would be a valid concern if Jesus were dead and buried like all the other religious founders in history. But He’s not. Jesus is a historical figure, of course. He was born into the world and lived and was crucified in first century Palestine. But that’s not where His story ended—in fact, He has no end. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef challenges us to consider and draw near to the living Lord.

Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper as a means of helping us remember together how, with His own blood, He secured our salvation. The Lord’s Supper is supposed to be a time of true spiritual enrichment. But the Corinthians had turned it into a time of shame for the poorer members of their congregation. In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef explains Paul’s reprimand of the Corinthian church regarding the Lord’s Supper.

Today our worship and witness can be tarnished in similar ways. We may not be worshiping at a pagan temple, but how many of us worship at the altar of wealth, status, or approval? In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef considers how our object of worship impacts our witness.

The Israelites wandered in the desert for forty years under Moses’ leadership. They had none of the distractions of our modern lives—no smartphones, no social media, no 24-hour news cycle. They were told to do one simple thing: follow God. As they walked, they followed God’s physical manifestation—cloud by day, fire by night. Yet, despite God’s physical presence and awesome provision, they still grumbled and set their hearts on evil things, falling into temptation (see v. 6). They were discontent with the wisdom, provision, and very presence of Almighty God.
In today’s devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef calls us to seek to learn to be content.
