Joe Maz is a master of progression and song selection. In this mix, there is no scratching, no crazy technical elements. BUT.. I rate this mix 10 out 10. The progression, feeling and song selection is something that comes with YEARS of music experience. This mix is a great example of DJing. Thank you JOE!

April 02, 2019 Different travel deals with clubs. How much should DJs make? Song selection>
What kind of deals are possible when you book an out of town gig? I go over the different contracts that I have signed in the past with nightclubs. I cover the different things that they pay for and what you can ask for. I touch on mixing in key and how I believe that song selection is the most important skill to develop as a DJ. Finally, I discuss how even though it would be great for a DJ to make a piece of the revenue of the nightclub, it doesn't make sense.

This weeks feature mix is a great driving mix. At first I thought the mix was a little mellow and wasn't showcasing enough technical prowess. Even though B. Mills has the skills, he makes the music the focal point of the mix. I decided to put this mix up for two reasons. 1. B.Mills hit me up and said "Hey, if you don't have a mix for this week, toss this up!" 2. It's a great example of track selection and how it can carry a mix. I would like DJs to send me mixes at all talent levels, you don't have to be a super technical DJ to put together a great mix! Thank you B. Mills for sending this in!
