  • #46: Thanksgiving Minisode
Join the sisters for a pre Thanksgiving minisode. This week Elizabeth and Sarah are sharing a few things that they are thankful for in 2021 with some small tangents involving food (obviously) and Taylor Swift.

  • #45: The Baby-Sitters Club & Only Murders in the Building
The sisters are kicking off this episode with a bang. Firstly, it’s a bones day, second it’s spooky Hallowen and finally it’s the 1 year anniversary of the podcast!
The random assortment of topics discussed at the top of the pod include but are not limited to; Halloween blues, future Halloween decoration plans, favorite Halloween costumes, learning that TikTok is dead and the Princess Switch 3.
SKIPPERS head to around the 37:30 mark…
It’s a double shot this week. Elizabeth and Sarah dig into two shows that they’ve watched that not enough people are talking about.
First up, The Baby-Sitters Club (season 2). It’s a feel good show made for tweens that is genuinely enjoyed by two adults. You’ve got the portrayal of normal seeming middle schoolers mixed with responsible parents. It’s a refreshing change of pace to the normal teen shows the sisters typically watch.
Second (head to 51:53), Only Murders in the Building. Basically just be ready for 30 minutes of praise for Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez and this charming show about murder. Be warned major spoilers will be discussed. That and of course a love of dips.

  • #44: We Have a Podcast?!?!

The sisters are back, at least in their timeline...it’s all very confusing. Tuck in as Elizabeth and Sarah catch up after Sarah’s trip to visit their parents/America. The sister chat includes talk of naked rugby players and highlights of her trip...refillable sodas, cold brew, Jo Bros and of course the Cheesecake Factory. Top it all off with Elizabeth telling her most LA story yet and you’ve got one hell of a podcast episode!

  • #43: Who Doesn’t Love a Witch Show?

For the first time ever, the sisters are recording live from the same continent! They are only three hours apart instead of the usual eight, because Sarah is officially back from across the pond. Listen in and hear as she relays her harrowing trip back to the land of cold brew, free refills, and the Big Mac.

Skippers - jump ahead to around the 36:15 mark because something witchy this way comes.

In honor of Halloween, the spookiest of seasons (cue the song This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas) Elizabeth and Sarah are doing a double shot of witches this week. Each sister presents a snap judgement on a witchy show that they’ve never watched before.

First up, Sarah (and dad) watching Motherland: Fort Salem. A show with an interesting concept about questionable government oversight that is in desperate need of a Star Wars like scroll.

Second up, Elizabeth (and husband) watching Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. A campy show that makes you think more about Sabrina the Teenage Witch than you have in a decade.

Throw in a brief tangent about Sex Education and you’ve got yourself a well rounded podcast episode!

  • #42: Chicken Sandwiches & General Nonsense

This week’s episode is hard to describe, as it’s full of general nonsense. But here are the main topics:

    • Chicken Sandwiches
    • Food (with a focus on Taco Bell and Cheesecake Factory)
    • Derry Girls
    • Reynolds vs Gosling
    • Sex Education update
    • Women wanting to kill their husbands
    • Decision fatigue

    • Enjoy!

    • #41: Sex Education - Snap Judgements

After the usual weather update, the sisters kick off this week’s episode by digging into the top pop culture stories from the week. First up, the Met Gala. The biggest question, why didn’t anyone understand the assignment? To clarify why did 95% of the attendees not follow the theme? Outside of a few standouts it felt like the mark was missed. This of course led into a conversation regarding vaccinated and unvaccinated celebrities and Nikki Minaj’s cousin’s friend. Finally before the main topic they discuss their excitement over the barrage of musicians releasing full albums. To that end Sarah gives a quick overview of her current obsession, the Lil Nas X - MONTERO album.

SKIPPERS - head to the ~29:00 mark.

After a brief tangent into spin-offs Elizabeth and Sarah dive into Netflix’s Sex Education. Elizabeth is already an avid watcher, and had already binged the recently released Season 3 before the recording of this episode, so this snap judgement is all Sarah.

Sarah breaks down the NSFW pilot episode, names her favorite character (Eric obviously), gives her predictions regarding Adam and calls out the blatant disregard for ham sandwiches. But mostly she tries to figure out Gillian Anderson’s real estate situation, what grade everyone is in and why everyone is wearing American jock jackets.

Finally she answers the ultimate question at the end of every snap judgment - will she continue to watch Sex Education? You’ll have to listen to the full episode to find out.

    • #40: Young Royals - Snap Judgments

Elizabeth and Sarah are powering through bad internet connections, heat waves and very, very sore muscles to bring you a top notch episode.

Sister chat this week centers around the pop culture news of the week which is that comedian John Mulaney is having a baby with actress Olivia Munn. This means of course that the timeline of everything must be dissected. While they wish them the best, the ladies truly just hope that his ex got custody of their pup Petunia.

Skippers head to the 11:25 mark as the sisters do a snap judgment episode on Netflix’s Young Royals.

A darker turn than their usual podcast fodder, the sisters liked the show enough to watch more than one already, which is saying a lot since in order to watch you have to read subtitles or deal with a terrible dub. Having to truly pay attention allowed them to appreciate the more realistic look of all the characters and develop a true hatred for August. Join in on the convo as they break down characters, discuss the 90s influences and discuss why Sweden is just better than the U.S. at everything.

    • #39: Cinderella (2021) - Did We Need the Shoe?

Sister talk this week kicks off with talk of long weekends, the dream of a 4 day work week and the violence of Friday work meetings. They also discuss the perils of the previous week, including food poisoning and insomnia...the only cures being Grace & Frankie and ASMR videos respectively.

After a brief tangent about the Vampire Academy tv show cast announcement and Scottish men they get into the main topic of this week’s episode...

Skippers head to the 18:47 mark

Drumroll please...the winner of the first tiebreaker Tuesday Instagram poll (make sure to follow @myfavoritesisterpod) is Amazon Prime’s 2021 Cinderella reboot. There will be spoilers, but it’s Cinderella...so really...can there be spoilers?

Elizabeth and Sarah kick off their discussion by breaking down the fairly star studded cast (see Camila Cabello, Pierce Brosnan, Minnie Driver, Idina Menzel & the iconic Billy Porter) + the prince...though unknown, eventually won them over with his one liners.

While they agree that they are not sure why this was made, and that at times it felt like a British panel show (thanks James Corden), that it was overall an enjoyable, light watch. But can you really go wrong when you have Billy Porter? The answer is no.

Most importantly they both agree that Amazon 100% needs to greenlight a prequel featuring the king/queen. Who’s on board?

    • #38: He's All That - Presented by Pizza Hut

This week’s sister chat portion of the episode includes talk of bank holidays, working over the weekend, late night massages, hippie shit, botox, skincare (lengthy section on this) & birth charts.

      SKIPPERS

If you want to cut directly to the main discussion of the week He’s All That, the remake of the cinematic masterpiece She’s All That, go to the 22:44 mark.

      THERE WILL BE SPOILERS

First off, the sisters talk about the biggest looming question that came out of watching the trailer for this movie, is Rachel Leigh Cook is in fact playing the same character from She’s All That? After that crucial piece of information is answered Elizabeth and Sarah spend a lot of time wondering whether or not the writers actually consulted any Gen Zers during the making of this film. From performing the classic Brandy-Monica joint “The Boy is Mine” at karaoke to eating Pizza Hut a lot of the decisions made were headscratchers. The only thing that rang true is the amount of time spent on social media, which felt exhausting to these two millennials. Tangents during this episode include but are not limited to; go-to karaoke songs, horses, birth certificates and Matthew Lillard.

If nothing else they both agree, "Kiss Me" is still iconic.

    • #37: The White Lotus (+ Hacks & The Flight Attendant)

PROGRAMMING NOTE For this episode only we recommend you go find us on Spotify, otherwise the intro might be really confusing. If you want to stick to your guns and listen the way you usually do, then go listen to The White Lotus theme song and then hit play on this week’s episode.

After a brief intro talking about what a bop The White Lotus theme song is, the ladies jump into some sister chat. Sarah talks about her recent trip to the Museum of Archaeology (because her and Jack are smarty pants), then there is a pivot into food (of course), a little talk of Trader Joe’s (how can you avoid it) and then end with all things adulting (boo!).

SKIPPERS - Although it’s briefly discussed at the top of the episode if you want to get to all things HBO Max skip ahead to the 19:34 mark.

Sarah finally has access to the HBO Max, which means a whole new batch of shows to talk about! Since Gossip Girl was already discussed (go check out Episode 34) they dive right into talking about Hacks and the Jean Smart renaissance that is (thankfully) happening. Of course that leads into discussing full length sequin suits and reminiscing about Vegas.

Then they jump into The Flight Attendant, and how it was surprisingly funny for the subject matter. And how Jack was shocked about the big twist in the pilot.

Finally Elizabeth and Sarah talk about the surprise hit, The White Lotus. A show that makes you feel uneasy the entire time and tells the story of entitled rich white people and the path of destruction they often bring about. #JusticeforBelinda. And of course in a very Clue like fashion they will discuss who dies with the knife in the Pineapple Suite.
