The sisters are back, baby! Not re-energized in any way after their break, but they’re back. One of them is fully vaxxed, and relaxed, after getting a birthday massage and the other is too young to receive their first dose.
It’s your typical sister chat type episode which means, you guessed it, lots of talk about food and TV. Only on this show will you get a 5 minute plus talk about s’mores.
Elizabeth spent her break watching a lot of shows with their Dad meaning it was a mix of British shows + Hallmark. Be warned this episode quickly becomes an ad for Britbox and Acorn. Shows briefly discussed include Jeopardy, Brokenwood Mysteries, Death in Paradise, Bäckström, Mare of Easttown, The Irregulars, When Calls the Heart and Breaker High. Then of course, as you do, they somehow get into discussing the long forgotten TV Channel PAX.
Sprinkle in some light talk about alpacas, baby geese, cicadas, cats and fake coyotes and you have the perfect comeback episode!
Previously cut for time, enjoy this bonus clip where Elizabeth and Sarah talk about their top picks for this year's Oscars...it may have been more like wondering what the Academy could possible nominate in 2020, because what even came out? In the end they agreed it would be a tight race between Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and Trolls World Tour. Both definitely should have been shoo-ins for Best Picture at the 93rd Academy Awards.
We join this episode of the My Favorite Sister podcast already in progress…

Choose Your Fighter: Excel or Google Sheets
This week the sisters (Sarah & Elizabeth) accidentally spend the first half of their normal pod time not discussing their originally intended topic of best True Crime documentaries. Instead, in this week's episode (aka Part 1) they discuss all things random including the importance of air conditioning, Elizabeth finally understanding the Harry Styles hype, and Sarah announces her strong membership to Team Short Sleeves.
Next week (aka in Part 2) they will definitely get back to the business of True Crime, with a special guest, so stay tuned!
This week one of the sisters is tired due to the time change and both sisters are high on a steady stream of sugar. They start the pod by commiserating over their husbands’ birthdays the previous week, is it odd that they both married Pisces? The answer is probably. They decide that it must be a Pisces trait to love sweets, because the week was filled with carrot cake, chocolate cake, and coffee cake...OH MY! After a very long discussion about cake they move onto the biggest story of the past month, Oprah being back on TV! Oh and they also talk about Harry & Meghan. #teamharryandmeghan
Eventually after all the cake and Royal gossip the episode dives into the new Netflix/Amy Poehler movie Moxie, starting around the 39:20 mark.
They discuss more insufferable teens (a familiar topic) and decide that anyone 30 and older is basically Amy Poehler in this movie. Elizabeth and Sarah both rewrite the movie in their heads, wonder about some of the choices that were made and most importantly question any person that would take someone on a date to a funeral home. To quote Randy Jackson, “That’s a no from me dawg.”
Content Warning: Moxie contains of characters who have experienced sexual assault. We briefly discuss these topics on this week’s episode of the podcast, starting around the 59:40 mark.
This week’s episode kicks off with talk about the weather (of course), fire alarms, hot tubs, Airbnb vs hotels, Top Chef, Alias, and the amazingly wonderful Victor Garber.
Content Warning: Ginny and Georgia contains depictions of characters who have experienced sexual assault. We briefly discuss these topics on this week’s episode of the podcast, starting around the 14:15 mark.
The real topic of conversation for Elizabeth and Sarah centers around Netflix’s latest outing, Ginny and Georgia. One of them liked it, one of them didn’t, but both are in agreement that teens, especially in this show are insufferable. The sisters discuss the comparisons between this show and Gilmore Girls...there really isn’t one, other than the fact that Georgia and Zion have a very Lorelai and Christoper relationship (but Christopher sucks and Zion is cool). Other things discussed include, Jocelyn from Schitt’s Creek, superficial friendships, Midnight Madness (from their high school memories), Paul coming in hot, Taylor Swift, and of course, JOE! While they might not agree on everything, they are in agreement that Netflix needs to figure out a way to somehow shift / rename it to Georgia & Joe if there is a season 2.
The My Favorite Sister podcast is almost old enough to drink legally, that’s right, it’s the 20th episode, ya’ll!!! In order to mark this momentous occasion Elizabeth and Sarah decided that instead of breaking down a tv or movie this week that they would engage in some fun “sister chat,” which basically translates to, random discussion hour!
Topics covered during this episode include but are not limited to: Brandy’s Cinderella (they snuck in some movie talk after all), walks, Jack’s 30th birthday!, vaccine talk, art fraud, TikTok, Gen Z attempting to cancel Eminem, computer rooms/AIM/burning CDs, and making an early 2000s one hit wonders playlist. And of course they cover the most philosophical question of our time, would you punch your spouse in the face for a billion dollars?
This week’s episode is filled with all things movies & dramatic television, there’s absolutely no time for weather talk. Elizabeth & Sarah immediately kick things off with some movie banter, first pondering whether or not they will watch Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (and if their husbands would be interested), following that up with a small unplanned dive into Disney’s live action Mulan (around the 2:58 mark). Their review is as follows, it makes you want to watch the animated version and hear some sweet, sweet Donny Osmond. In addition, the song “True to Your Heart” (via 98 Degrees and Stevie Wonder) is still a bop and Christina Aguilera needs to have a mainstream hit stat!
Content Warning: Firefly Lane contains depictions of characters dealing with sexual assault and miscarriages. We briefly discuss these topics on this week’s episode of the podcast, starting around the 12:15 mark.
Firefly Lane took the sisters by surprise, they expected a light “Hallmark style” watch, and that’s definitely not what they got. Instead they got a story about two lifelong best friends, and the ups and downs that come with that. It’s a show with serious Now and Then vibes filled with perfectly executed time jumps, 2003 nostalgia, flip phones, big hair/glasses and Sarah Chalke giving us the epitome of that clumsy, foot in mouth rom-com friend. By the end of their discussion both agree that Netflix needs to renew the show for a 2nd season, mostly so they don’t have to read the book series it’s based on to find out how all these cliffhangers wrap up.
This week Elizabeth & Sarah kick off the show with the weather, flying car shows, Wonder Woman, murder stuff, #FreeBritney and Valentine’s Day. But no My Favorite Sister episode can truly be complete without both weather talk and an in depth discussion of something that happened on Sarah’s local Facebook group, and once again it delivers, bringing us the heartwarming tale of a man turning 100 and the town rallying behind him. Plus he got a card from the Queen!
For any skippers - this week’s big discussion about To All the Boys: Always and Forever starts around the 8:10 mark.
For this week’s conversation the sisters dig into the final installment of Netflix's hit teen rom-com trilogy. Join them as they discuss time jumps, wanting to travel, John Corbett (duh!), college acceptance letters, Subway sponsorships, Peter Kavinsky being the perfect boyfriend and the horror of couples sitting next to each other at restaurants. And of course listen to find out if after Sarah’s flip flopping last week on whether or not she actually liked the movies, did To All the Boys: Always and Forever do enough to stick the landing and win her over? HAGS!
