The episode kicks off this week in typical fashion with weather & hair talk, add in discussion about parallel parking & driving and you’ve got the perfect sister chat.
SKIPPERS - To cut straight to the Outer Banks content go to around the 28:22 mark.
They’ve been promising it for weeks and Elizabeth and Sarah are finally delivering (mainly on Elizabeth as she was too busy hunting down vampires and hot dads to watch it when originally promised)...that’s right it’s the next installment of their snap judgement series focusing on Netflix’s summer teen sensation Outer Banks.
Because she has no newer references and is stuff in adolescence the pilot episode is giving Elizabeth major Dawson’s Creek vibes. Not sure if that’s due to the North Carolina setting, JJ’s Pacey vibes or the love triangle that will 100% occur once that blonde makes her way into the crew.
Major questions posed during the episode. Does it matter if the main characters in these teen shows ever attend school? Does the whole world know/care about OBX? Would we have met hot townies if we had continued to go to our family’s NC beach destination as teenagers?
The biggest question of course is, will Elizabeth watch the rest of Season 1 and potentially a Season 2 or will this be another Riverdale situation?
We jump in this week to a brief recap of Elizabeth’s recent travels and an explanation for why the promised episode never appeared. Basically she was on a hunt for vampires and hot dads...and at a wedding.
SKIPPERS - We start discussing The Kissing Booth 3 around the 13:45 mark
Get ready for a HUGE discussion this week as the sisters dig into the whole The Kissing Booth trilogy with the main focus being The Kissing Booth 3. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. During the brief look back at the first two installments they discuss the lack of hot dads, how these movies are hard to rewatch in a post Covid world, teens on motorcycles, the college admission process (wondering if the writers of these movies ever went through it), and how it must be hard to be young and hot in Hollywood...because you end up dating your costars, break up and then have to work with them over and over again.
After a brief tangent about aliens Elizabeth & Sarah get into the main event, the third and final installment of The Kissing Booth. The end of Elle, Lee and Noah (and Rachel).
Main points during this recap include; how Noah has become exhausting and is a total wet blanket, the insanity of selling a beach house in LA (Malibu), the super fun beach bucket list, Mario go-karts, the underutilization of Chloe, accent breaks, Molly Ringwald truth bombs, logistics and of course bloopers!!!
So did the writers/creators stick the landing of this Netflix teen trilogy? You’ll have to listen to find out
Another Sunday morning...another recording. This week’s sister catch up covers a wide range of subjects (most of them probably very unexciting for the listeners). They include but are not limited to; the fear of getting murdered in their dad’s house, where they would hide if there was an intruder in said house, Sarah’s recent work fun that included a Sears like photoshoot, buying a castle in Scotland, and of course how their coworkers are making them feel old. That last one includes a lengthy discussion on Minesweeper.
SKIPPERS - 35:20 (enjoy a seamless transition) -
***there will be spoilers
For the main discussion this week Elizabeth and Sarah are breaking down the pilot episode of the Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max.
Please note - they have only watched the first episode, so opinions are based solely on that.
Using handwritten notes they go beat by beat into the pilot discussing this new crop of teens roaming the halls of Constance Billard St. Jude’s and the teachers who bully them. Questions that come up during their chat; Who listens to something at full volume of a train with no earbuds? Who is this show for? Is this the story we want to be telling in 2021? Did knowing who Gossip Girl was kind of ruin the premise of the show? And how much money did Adidas give HBO Max / Gossip Girl?...because they were mentioned approximately 100 times during the episode. Side note: learn the wrong way that Europeans say that brand name.
Mostly we were just disappointed that we didn’t get an update on all our favorite characters from the original show. And by all the characters we mean Chuck and Blair obviously.
Until next week - XOXO
This week’s episode kicks off with a weather report from England. Basically Sarah is experiencing full sun and zero breeze, which unfortunately is causing spider hunts. Elizabeth on the other hand is having fun on the “swamp coast” which involves background noise (sorry listeners for the doorbells and meows), wine, ice cream and pool jumping. They are both in desperate need of sunscreen and bug spray.
Skippers
Head to 16:40 for our discussion of Never Have I Ever - Season 2.
Please note there will be SPOILERS!
Based on the sisters’ breakdown of Season 2 it’s safe to say that Mindy Kaling has avoided the infamous sophomore slump. Both are in agreement that this season killed it just like S1 and had some great character growth not only for Devi but for the supporting cast.
Main takeaways from this recap:
In addition, they talk about the Kamala* storyline (with some academia insight from Sarah) that has some amazing moments AND opens up a potential new love interest for S3 (sorry Prashant).
And of course they end the episode talking about the cliffhanger and potentially plotlines for Season 3. Looking at you for that renewal Netflix!
*Please note that at one point Elizabeth says Fabiola when she meant Kamala.
This episode jumps right into a sister chat in progress. Listen in as Elizabeth and Sarah discuss the trauma of re-piercing their ears, Claire’s earring solution, practicing driving at 30 years old, and Sarah’s upcoming 31st birthday.
Skippers - discussion on The Bold Type starts around the 17:15 mark.
The main topic of this episode centers around the final season of Freeform’s hit show, The Bold Type. Main discussion points include; Kat’s glow up after her Season 4 derailment, Jane’s meteoric rise at Scarlet (the word flabbergasted was used to describe this storyline) and confusing romantic decisions and of course Sutton and Richard’s endgame but rushed reunion.
Ultimately they agree that the plots in Season 4 and the shortened final season led to the writers having to quickly wrap things up, and so the sisters discuss some ideas on how the last season could have ended and felt more satisfying.
The best quote from this episode definitely has to be, “FUCK YOU RICHARD!”
The sisters are bringing you a minisode this week, aka a 30 minutes conversation about food. Listen in as Sarah gives us a rundown of an American holiday being celebrated in England. Basically it involved a cookout sponsored by Costco. Food eaten included hot dogs, potato salad, veggie trays, french onion dip, rice krispie treats, s’mores (a common topic in recent episodes) and of course the most American food of all, Jell-O shots!
Then they get into the bachelorette party Elizabeth attended where she quickly dives into the important pieces of the weekend...prosecco, bomb charcuterie boards and garlic bread with melted brie.
Factoids learned during this episode: Jell-O is called Jelly in England and English people apparently have no manners when it comes to being party guests.
The sisters agree, this might be their best and most exciting episode ever. How could it not be with talk of men’s gift guides, English driving rules, parallel parking and Trader Joe’s parking lots? But seriously join Elizabeth and Sarah for one of their classic sister chat episodes, where they truly just catch up on things. They talk holidays (specifically Father's Day, Juneteenth and 4th of July) then they segue into Sarah’s ongoing quest to get her driver’s license, her exciting London cheese tour with some fellow UK based Americans, recharging after social interactions and haircuts! They end the episode with exciting plans for December, the Jo Bros and some “celebrities are just like us” encounters.
This week Elizabeth and Sarah kick off the episode with a weather report (haven’t had one of those in a while), wildlife stories, tales from brunch and Aerobed camping. Then they ponder while the styles of the Delia's catalog are back, give advice to their past selves and do a deep dive on the latest Gossip Girl trailer.
SKIPPERS
Head to the 20:35 mark to skip sister chat and jump right into the main event, a breakdown of the new Olivia Rodridgo album SOUR.
Listen as they discuss (aka as Elizabeth basically talking at Sarah for 30 minutes about the album), rank songs, decipher lyrics and explain the history of High School Musical.
Also Olivia if you are listening, album #2 needs to be a full on rock/pop joint.
This week the sister’s are taking a look back at all the shows they’ve talked about in previous episodes and giving the listeners an update on cancellations and renewals. But first there’s a surprising amount of bug talk followed by some discussion of mini vacations, Covid jabs, Issac Newton, the Magna Carta, Come Dine With Me, oven fires, bridal showers, getting ready fails, dress codes and holding a real Oscar.
SKIPPERS
If you want to get straight to the show updates skip to around the 39:00 minute mark.
And after the discussion Elizabeth & Sarah ask the ultimate question, to save Teenage Bounty Hunters, which renewed show would you sacrifice?
Could we be any more booked and busy? The answer for Sarah is no, while the answer for Elizabeth is yes she definitely could.
This week’s discussion starts with a breakdown of Sarah’s very busy week. From a surprise wake up to get a Covid vaccine appointment (thank god for husbands who are morning people) and lawn bowling to buying a convertible and going on a murder mystery tour, she and Jack have had very packed schedules. Elizabeth on the other hand...checks notes...has worked, worked and then worked some more.
SKIPPERS
Want to skip the delightful sister catch up talk and go right to the discussion on Friends: The Reunion presented by HBO Max, then go to the 37:15 mark.
Neither of them were super amped to watch, but both ended up watching the 2 hour special in one sitting. No one asked for it, but maybe as a country it’s what we all needed. The sisters were having all the feels while watching the nostalgia filled reunion.
Listen as Elizabeth and Sarah discuss their favorite episodes, the casting process, concerns over Matthew Perry, which Friend looked the best, shipping Monica and Chandler, the not so secret Jen and David crush and of course the best unseen show ever, LAX 2194. Please someone put that up on YouTube stat!
Also, are they the only ones that want to just watch hours and hours of bloopers and behind the scenes footage. #ReleasetheFriendsBTScut
Mostly they just hope that all these people start getting together for dinner once per year and don’t wait another 17 years to be in the same room with each other.
Oh and of course don’t forget to PIVOT!!!
