  • #17: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before 1 & 2

If you want to know what the weather is in L.A. this might be the last week you can find out via the podcast as Sarah says no more weather jokes....but sunny and 70 is a good guess going forward. But don’t worry weather is out and local neighborhood gossip is in!

This week Elizabeth and Sarah kick off the episode with the scandal that swept the world (for like a day), the Golden Globe nominations, and more specifically how the hell did Emily in Paris get multiple nods?! Go check out to Episode #1 to hear our thoughts on the hottest show from October 2020. Then they dig into the original hot dad, Christopher Plummer, RIP. Who knew that watching him rip up a Nazi flag would still be super hot in 2021 (maybe even hotter than when the movie came out?).

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before content starts around the 22:21 mark.

For this week’s main conversation the sisters dig into To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and it’s sequel To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, one of the first times Netflix got into the fluffy teen romantic comedy game. Listen as Sarah gets into a heated debate with...herself, as to whether or not she likes these films. Other topics include the battle between Netflix heartthrobs Noah Centineo and Jacob Elordi, Subway sponsorships, living in Holland Taylor’s penthouse suite, love triangles, Fakesgiving vs. Thanksgiving, how Linkin Park slaps and of course hot dad John Corbett. Listen to this to prepare for the final film in the trilogy, which they will be discussing on next week’s episode!

  • #16: Fate: The Winx Saga...aka Fate: Extreme Winking

Elizabeth & Sarah start this week’s episode with weather talk (keeping that joke going), Zoom baby showers, SPF, spray tans and inventive ways to smuggle booze into any event.

Skip to Fate: The Winx Saga content around the 11:12 mark.

Take one part Harry Potter + one part Riverdale (hot teens) + one part toy commercial and you’ve got Netflix’s, Fate: The Winx Saga. The sisters break down Season 1 (there’s a surprising amount to talk about for a show with only six episodes). Hot topics discussed; What do you do when the main character of the show is kind of unlikable? What is the deal with the Specialists? Does Winx stand for extreme winking (because there’s an “X” in it)? And most importantly is the Otherworld student to teacher ratio even more appalling than the one in America?! Stay tuned until the end to hear predictions for a (fingers crossed) Season 2. And to be clear if this is a giant toy commercial then please send the sisters Aisha and Terra action figures stat!

  • #15: Tiny Pretty Things. The Ballet One on Netflix.

Elizabeth & Sarah kick off this week with a brief conversation about the weather, their thin blood and how they would never survive in Russia. Then of course they dig into the pomp and circumstance of the Inauguration...the looks, the fireworks, the mittens!

Skip to Tiny Pretty Things content around the 17:45 mark.

This week the sisters dig into that ballet show on Netflix. What’s the name? Pretty Little Things, Pretty Tiny Things…(a Google search confirms)...Tiny Pretty Things. A messy show that’s filled with hot teens, butts, random couplings, fever dreams, too many storylines to keep track of, an assortment of character names and pretty amazing dancing. The biggest questions that arise during this episode. Is Netflix filming all their shows in Chicago now? What is the deal with that sauna? Why are the hot ballet teens not becoming Instagram influencers? Can Elizabeth say the name Oren correctly at least once? The answer to that last one is no.

Also fun fact - a male ballet dancer is called a ballerino.

  • #14: Wonder Woman 1984 - Pining for Chris Pine

Elizabeth & Sarah kick off the pod with power outages, cold/hot walks & Schitt’s Creek….oh my!

Skip to WW84 content around the 7:11 mark.

This week the sisters do a deep dive (into Wonder Woman 1984). Who enjoyed it and who didn’t? You’ll have to listen to find out. Things they both agree upon; Virginia is For Lovers, Kristen Wiig plays the same character in everything, ladies are much hotter when they take off their glasses and walk in heels, male actors (looking at you Chris Pine) need to focus more on skincare and SPF, and of course that nothing beats an ‘80s clothing montage.

Questions that may or not be answered: How does the wishing stone work? Why didn’t Max Lord just wish for oil? Did Barbara renounce her wish? Do WWI pilots know how to fly fighter jets? Will ScarJo ever get her own movie? Was DC trying to cash in on their December release with that end scene? And most importantly, why didn’t they give The Cheetah the curly ‘80s hair she deserved?

So dear listeners, strap into your invisible jet, imagine some fake fireworks and enjoy some light & nerdy NOVA/DC Smithsonian talk. But seriously...How does the wishing stone work?

  • #13: We've Opened the Disney Vault!

How’s 2021 going? I think everyone can agree, not well. Being from NOVA, Elizabeth and Sarah start the episode by touching upon the attacks on the US Capitol Building. They never thought they’d be campaigning for Mike Pence 2021...

For those who want to bypass the political talk skip to around the 7:00 minute mark.

For the main focus of the episode this week, the sisters bust open the infamous Disney Vault to talk about and rank their favorite Disney animated films. They tackle philosophical questions like do we have Olaf in Frozen without Timon and Pumbaa in The Lion King and can they count Anastasia as a Disney Princess now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox? They rank sidekicks, villains, hottest male characters, leads and of course movies. Who will come out on top? You’ll have to listen to find out. Plus enjoy a bit of childhood trauma and decide for yourself if one of them is in love with the animated Robin Hood (he’s literally a fox)!

  • #12: XOXO Lady Whistledown

It’s a new year on The My Favorite Sister podcast but don’t worry it’s the same old sisters….you know what that means, starting off with random discussions about food! Listen as Elizabeth & Sarah dig into what they did for their very exciting quarantine New Year’s Eve celebrations...including pretzels & champagne, fireworks and drones. That leads into a brief look at 2021 horoscopes...which seem to point to all things pregnancy…??? Finally they dig into the hottest new show on Netflix, Bridgerton! SKIPPERS...if you want to miss out on all the general nonsense and go straight to talk about Pride & Prejudice meets Gossip Girl jump to the hard pivot we take at around the 38:20 mark. Who doesn’t love a show about Regency era parties? XOXO.

  • #11: 2020 - A Look Back

The My Favorite Sister podcast is finishing off 2020 with a look back. The episode starts off with some random discussions including tales of accidental shoplifting, thunderstorms, duping drunk friends into signing up for credit cards and the ability of husbands to sleep thru ANYTHING! Then the sisters dive into what got them through the dumpster fire of a year that was 2020. Some are heartfelt and personal while others (most) revolve solely around TV, movies, pop culture, social media and of course stupid “celebrity” scandals. To end Elizabeth & Sarah discuss goals (more like wishful thinking) for 2021...including leaving the apartment, seeing family and eating at as many restaurants as humanly possible.

  • #10: The Wilds on Amazon Prime (It's Literally Wild!)

The My Favorite Sister podcast has hit double digits!!! What’s in store for episode #10? Well Elizabeth & Sarah promised that last week would be their last conversation about Christmas movies...they lied. BUT after a brief foray into the random assortment of holiday movies they’ve watched, they finally talk about something non Christmas related, and the main subject of this week’s episode, Amazon Prime’s new show The Wilds. You think you had teen angst / drama growing up...try being stranded on an island with eight strangers like the characters in this show. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT - If you have any interest in watching this show listen to this episode at your own peril, there will be spoilers. If you will never watch and just want to hear a deep dive into a random subject, then hit that play button.

Content Warning: ‘The Wilds’ contains depictions of characters dealing with eating disorders, sexual assault, and suicide. We briefly discuss these topics on this week’s episode of the podcast, with our recap of The Wilds starting after the 30 minute mark.

  • #9: Our Top 5 Favorite Christmas Movies!

This week Elizabeth & Sarah finally end their Christmas limited series by ranking their top 5 favorite Christmas movies...and will defend their choices to the death (or until the other one agrees). Things learned during the recording of this episode...1. With their taste in movies the sisters may be old ladies in disguise, 2. One of them has really depressing Christmas vibes and 3. That there are two types of family at Christmas, you either watch A Christmas Story or you don’t. Movies discussed include (but are not limited to), Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone & White Christmas. Is your favorite Christmas movie on one our lists? You’ll have to listen to find out. And to top things off you’ll also get a thrilling conversation regarding pajamas and sleep socks that just can’t be missed. If you didn’t know any better you would think this episode was sponsored by Old Navy and Heat Holders Socks.

  • #8: Surfing Into Christmas

This week enjoy the final installment of Elizabeth & Sarah’s discussion on Netflix (and Hulu) Christmas movies. This week there are some differing opinions, so you’ll have to listen to find out who liked what more. Up first is Netflix’s Christmas series Dash & Lily where they question the age of the characters, wonder about Lily’s cool/mysterious Aunt and wish the Challah Back Boys into existence. Then they get into maybe the most highly anticipated Christmas movie of the year, Happiest Season (previously planned for a big screen release, now to be found in the US on Hulu), with conversations around the “fully loaded cast”, KStew looking her best, Dan Levy stealing the show and whether or not we should be rooting for the central relationship. Then instead of talking about food, they channel their sister powers and come up with a Christmas movie of their own, coming to a TV screen near you in 2022!
