May 24, 2021 Dreamwork makes the teamwork: How to elicit support from other providers
In this week's episode of My Favorite Unlicensed Counselor podcast there's so much conflict when it comes to working on a treatment team with other therapists and providers. The conflict depending on what the issues are can cause resistance and isolation from the team which makes the therapist an odd person out. This could mean that when you need support there will be none available due to the nature of the team. On this episode, Emani will discuss therapists' hardships when working with other providers. Emani will also discuss ways to appropriately have other providers help in a collaborative effort for the sake of promoting client's access to wellness options. In this week's episode of my favorite unlicensed counselor podcast, Emani will be discussing ways a therapist can introduce themselves to their new clients on the first session. Introductions as part of a professional meet and greet are underrated but makes a huge impact on the client, the therapist, and the practice. Think of introductions as a first impressions test. As Dr. Maya Angelou would say "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." The introductions take good use of words to capture the session however it is the emotions that are created in those moments that influence ideals and/or perceptions of reality.
