- "Other duties as assigned"...What kind of job is this?
Have you ever felt like the job you applied for was not the job that was advertised? Have you ever felt like the additional duties and responsibilities seem like they are beyond the scope of counseling and it's practice? Have you felt ashamed having to job hop every so often that it appears very spotty or lacking in your resume? If these answers are mostly a yes, then toast up to Episode 6, as Emani explains the lack of protection in the title counselor and how that reflects upon how jobs post their job postings for candidates in and outside the mental health realm. In this episode she will define the term counselor, a theory on why some people may prefer the word therapist to describe themselves as opposed to using the word counselor, and how to look out for job postings that may misconstrue the true meaning or job duties held by a mental health professional.
