We devoted this episode entirely to one listener's question about what lies after severe trauma. The listener was sexually abused by their father though most of their family has not acknowledged this. Recently their father died and the listener expressed they'd always felt the feelings of trauma would go away with him, but they have not. This is a heavy but very useful episode, we are very fortunate to have Dr. Nick Barr with his extensive experience as a traumatologist to speak to. I just want to say how much I deeply appreciate the listeners of this show who share their difficult experiences with everyone. I have bad adhd and while I certainly experience anxiety along with my depression, I have taken for granted my understanding (or more accurately lack thereof) in other people who experience really serious anxiety. So, I wanted to take this opportunity with Dr. Nick to own up to how I can make anxiety for my loved ones worse because I don't really understand it so all my instinctive coping mechanisms only make it worse for the person I love who is experiencing anxiety.
