Life is not an accident meant to be pursued by randomness in the hope of good fortune. Instead, there is a purpose and meaning to every life. The purpose of the ministry, as expressed by the Apostle Paul, is to "impart unto {us} some spiritual gift, to the end, we may be established" (Romans 1:11). When we embrace the good news of God's salvation, we accept a disciplined way of life designed to please God. Jesus said, "If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23). Our Lord never meant following him to be easy and carefree, as portrayed in the 21st Century brands of apostate Christianity. Instead, the walk (or path we follow) kills the "old man" with its hunger for "self-gratification" so a "new creature" designed in the image of Christ can emerge.
