As the song came to an end and begin to fade, I looked out into the night sky through a cloudlike mass of cigarette smoke.  I then looked over to my friend sitting to my left, and before I could say, "We need to listen to that again," he reached up with his right hand, pressed rewind, found the song... and let it play.

I was getting ready to climb up the stairs to meet everyone in the driveway when I heard my mom yelled down the stairway into the basement at my Aunt's house, "Come on, we're leaving." I put my hand on the handrail and stopped when this video came on the T.V. I watched it until the end then ran upstairs. When I reached the top, my mom asked asked me, "Everyone's waiting, what were you doing down there?" "Nothing," I said. "Just turning off the T.V."

Death and time.

At 11-12 years old I never really considered dying. I had done so little living up to that point and seemingly had so much of it ahead of me... I never gave it that much thought. And time? I had all I wanted... This song was the catalyst that made me consider death and time.
