Shannon Lay pulled up to My Little Underground to talk up her fantastic new album, 'Geist' and its emotionally poetic songwriting direction. Shannon and myself are huge fans of The Simpsons and every time we get together we geek out about the series. To that end, it is October and I couldn't let Shannon leave without sharing her favorite Treehouse of Horror. Talking about our favorite family from Springfield family is actually relevant to Shannon's artistry because she wrote a song inspired by Marge Simpson! She also talked up her excitement about her first series of headlining shows in New York City, and more!

This week on My Little Underground I had the pleasure of talking up the very dynamic Alicia Walter about her debut solo album, 'I Am Alicia'! She also talked up getting to sign a few of her records at the NYC location of Rough Trade which led to a discussion about the difficulties of record collecting while living in New York. As Alicia contemplated building a record collection, she detailed the creative arrangement process for 'I Am Alicia', putting on basement shows in Chicago, DJing clubs and weddings, and more!

Nate Amos (Water From Your Eyes) & Lily Konigsberg (Palberta) have come together to form My Idea! The duo pulled up to My Little Underground to talk up their debut EP, 'That's My Idea' on Hardly Art Records. Nate and Lily reveal their future plans for the group such as a full length album, a possible country album as well as a tour! Both Nate and Lily have other projects that have albums released or have one on they way in 2021. Nate is one half of Water From Your Eyes with a new album, 'Structure' out 8/27 and Lily already released an album with Palberta this year in 'Palberta 5000'. I wonder if they feel overworked by adding My Idea to their list of many projects? Listen to find out!

On November 4, 1991, music would be changed forever with the release of My Bloody Valentine's legendary sophomore album, Loveless! This week on My Little Underground I celebrate the approaching 30th anniversary of this very important album to not only me but a large amount of indie bands that formed in the late 2000's and into the early 2010's. 1991 was also the year "grunge" was propelled into the mainstream by a little album known as Nevermind from Nirvana thus overshadowing Loveless. I also talk up what this album did for the sub-genre we all know and love, Shoegaze! Let me also correct myself, Smashing Pumpkin's Siamese Dream came out in 1993, NOT 1991.
This week on My Little Underground, I'm pleased to welcome back one of the loudest bands in New York City, A Place To Bury Strangers! They have a new line up with John and Sandra Fedowitz of Ceremony East Coast, and of course, the very friendly, Oliver Ackermann front and center. Listen to the trio talk up their new EP, 'Hologram', new label Dedstrange, and their return to the stage as a new band this September at Bowery Ballroom. This is a very fun show filled with laughs, references to Insane Clown Posse, positive outlooks on record labels, Mad Libs, and more!

Its the fourth edition of the 2021 Anticipated series here on My Little Underground! Listen as I talk up some more albums/EPs to look forward to this year! Big surprise, there is an abundance of New York acts to keep your ears peeled for such as Homeboy Sandman continuing his 4 year hot streak with Anjelitu, to rising star Binki announcing his long awaited EP, Motor Function. It's nice to see my former guests are keeping busy because Water From Your Eyes have a new album coming as well as the groups other half, Nate Amos forming My Idea with fellow MLU alum, Lily Kongisberg of Palberta. So grateful to have tons of music to anticipate this year!
