We also talk a little foolishness as we dissect the Woodley vs Paul booking, and Bru gives a shout out to Claressa Shields prior to her successful MMA debut.

  • 044 - Steve Steele III

Another year, another first round exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and who else to review the calamity than the one and only Steve Steele himself!

We begin by giving an honest assessment of the Habs, break down what went right - and wrong - and he breaks down how much blame belongs to coach Sheldon Keefe & GM Kyle Dubas.

We then shift to the on ice product: is roster construction the issue? What do the veterans offer going forward? Are the young core as good as their contracts? Steve leaves no stone un-turned from the returning core to the pending free agents.

Steve then breaks down (buries) Mitch Marners status going forward: What went wrong? How can this be fixed? Which team does Steve think he would fit in a nice trade package?

Steve is co-host of the Sherlocked Podcast alongside Down the Pub Podcast legend and guru Anthony Abbott, as well as former co-host of the Armchair Commentary with the extremely talented Dave Smith. Make sure you go check out both projects for more of Steve's unfiltered opinion & high energy conversation. Appreciate you brother, see you soon!

    • 039 - Katy Jean III

Warming up the Katy & Chris show, Katy Jean returns to follow up our conversation last week on the government and the lockdowns.

We start by talking about mothers day & what consumer based holidays mean to us, while still keeping children engaged during a difficult time. We then shift the focus to Rankin & Strang: Katy tells us about a contest she won, the pressures of having both of them following her on social media, and how to gauge her content going forward. We talk about despite our criticism how we both want Rankin to succeed & how we as a community need to act going forward regarding elections.

Katy & I are currently working on a potential spin-off project in the not too distant future - so stay tuned for many more conversations to come! Appreciate you as always Katy!

    • 038 - Justin Lee (Milk Caps)

The founder of the most innovative and unique businesses to come from the pandemic, i'm joined on this episode by Milk Caps and Marmalade Advertising founder Justin Lee.

We begin the conversation talking about growing up & how those experiences laid the foundation for the rest of his life. Justin is open about his battles with substance abuse, and on the better end of a year of sobriety we talk about what it took to get to this point - balancing and weighing what priorities are, and the moments in life that changed Justin for the better.

With that, we get into what Milk Caps is all about - the unique business platform, collaborating with his wife Kristen, the marketing and advertising angle, and building a fan base alongside a customer base. Milk Caps spawned Justin's other brainchild, Marmalade Advertising, and he shares what the goal and aspiration of the business is. Justin shares a cool story about how a listing brought a hat home to a deserving home and the connection the business has built already.

We finish the show talking about the nostalgia and exclusivity of the product, and how copycat/biter brand have only encouraged Justin to continue to grow his brand. Milk Caps is thoroughly one of the most well thought out and fun social media pages around, and you can find it @milkcaps on Instagram and Instagram ONLY. Turn on the notifications and join the party. Appreciate you Justin, congratulations and good luck with everything my man.

    • 037 - Trevor Walter

A mentor of mine and one of my most valued basketball minds: I'm joined on this episode by Halifax West High School Girls, Highland Park Junior High Boys & Halifax Havoc U18 Maroon head coach Trevor Walter, fresh off his second season with the Warriors in the middle of a pandemic.

Trevor talks about all the ins and outs of the COVID season, including how communication was key, and how creativity came into play from a coaching aspect. We talk about how Tyler @ Maritime Athletic Profiles played a key role in making the season accessible despite it being fan-free, and what it was like not having parents in the gym.

We move into Trevor's upbringing around the game, and how coming to grips with seasonal depression helped push him into coaching. We talk about the values of building a staff and the importance of all the roles of a bench. We break down the difference between expectation and development during a difficult time in our world.

We finish the show talking about the state of the game in Nova Scotia: how refs can and often do impact games, what the two major governing bodies (BNS & MBANS) can do to fix it, the provincial based rules and regulations, and what needs to be done to change them for the good of the sport.

Trevor was an opponent of mine and past guest Jason Bruce during our first year coaching the U14 division 1 Halifax Hurricanes program, while Trevor was with the Y Panthers. Needless to say the lessons we learned during those games will last well beyond our coaching days. Until next time, appreciate you Trevor, thanks for joining me brother!
