    Sometimes accidental episodes are the best.
    On this episode of the show i'm joined once again by Armchair Commentary co-host Steve Steele, in a bit of an impromptu conversation sparked from an off-air conversation regarding Fred Vanvleets contribution to the Raptors. We start the show talking a bit of Habs, Leafs, which jersey I should buy, and Steve rips into the state of reffing in certain sports & why this situation is not an isolated incident.
    We then get back on topic as Steve explains to me why Kawhi was essentially Jordan in the 2019 conference semis vs the Sixers, and checks me on my valuation of Fred Vanvleets play prior to the Milwaukee series (Hint: he puts me in my place hahaha). We finish the show up by talking about a bit of basketball lore, before we meet on a couple hot takes: which perennial all-star do we debate if they are truly a superstar, and which all-time NBA great may have actually been a bit of a let down?
    Steve always brings incredible energy and knowledge to the table, and it was my treat having him back on the show for a second time - certainly far from the last.

    We talk about his early inspirations in music, and his basic creative process making music and videos. He explains how having his son involved has become somewhat normal in this day and age, and what artists/records sparked his love for hip hop at an early age.

    We then break down social media etiquette - inspired by his new single "The Facebook Commandments" - how to not be so shitty on social media while tip toeing the modern day cliff that is cancel culture. Chris & I attempt to draw the line and maneuver the "new" movement of changing or cancelling things, and how we would angle our opinions towards tough subjects in the art. We discuss how we engage in conversation and what we hope to get out of - and see others get out of - social media.

    We also get some solid advice on what hair gel brand to use & what no name brand soda is the best in the game. Kayla also makes a brief cameo to explain how SodaStream works way better than I ever could. This episode is not sponsored by any of the brands we speak of... yet.

    Joining me today on the show is none other than the Beni Golazo himself, The Early Bath co-host Carlos Benites. 

    Carlos starts our conversation by sharing the story of his life as a marketing & advertising major: His upbringing in Peru, the move to Canada and the challenges/successes early on, his educational path and his inspirations in life. We also talk about how Carlos has improved as a podcaster and what skills have ascended since he began a year ago.


    We move on to how much soccer means to Carlos and how it's the heartbeat of his life. We discuss his heroes both from Peru and the football world as a whole, and we discuss the state of Real Madrid & The HFX Wanderers. Carlos shares his thoughts on both sides and what he thinks they need to add to get to the top.

    Then we get into the two things that keep Carlos busy - The Early Bath podcast, and his DIEZ Football social media brand. Carlos shares the experience so far working with the Tidal league, interviewing MLS players, and continuing the chemistry from the Down The Pub days with co-host Anthony Abbot.     BACK IN EFFECT - after taking some much needed time to recharge the batteries, the show returns with 2-time CEBL MVP & overall great guy, Xavier Moon of the defending league champion Edmonton Stingers.


    Xavier is currently keeping fit in Israel playing for Maccabi Hod. Hasharon in the Israeli National League, peaking in the leagues scoring charts, and dominating the competition as one of the few import players in the league. We start the show talking about how life in Israel is different compared to back home, what originally brought him to Canada to play, the leaps and bounds in between, and his humble beginnings. Xavier reflects on his college career taking the JUCO route at Northwest Florida State, winning a NJCAA national title and 6th man of the year award in his second season, before taking the Division 1 route with Morehead State, finishing his career with first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference honors.

    We chat about his time with the London Lightning and the differences between the CEBL and NBL Canada. We also talk about how his uncle, former Toronto Raptor Jamario Moon, plays a huge role in his career. Xavier also shares some info into his new clothing line and how Kevin Ware Jr played a part in that.     Anthony Abbott, co-host of the NEW Tidal League series "The Early Bath" (dropping February 3rd, 2021), and creator/editor of the acclaimed "Down The Pub Podcast" joins me as we reflect and project the new challenges in both our podcast and real lives.

    We start the show talking about the new series with fellow Down The Pub co-host Carlos Benites, how the Tidal League model works, and adjusting to the changes of running your own show to having someone running it for you. Anthony opens up about his early days and inspirations around the game of football, before coming to Canada from Ireland 11 years ago.

    Anthony then opens up about his impending fatherhood and how much life has already changed. He shares the emotions of preparing to have twins, and talks about the strenuous IVF process his wife Sarah has had to endure.     It's hard to believe it was a year and a day ago when I made my first feature appearance on a podcast. The topic: new Wanderer signing Alex Marshall, and the passing of Kobe and Gigi Bryant. The world seemed normal then. Fast forward 366 days - as the world swiftly changed - Anthony was a mentor, teacher, motivator, guide and inspiration as I attempted to tip toe through the difficulties of 2020. I can't thank this man enough for helping to spark and inspire this show. Good luck with the new project Anthony, looking forward to it!

    To say this was an honor is an understatement. On this episode i'm joined by professional poker player & Halifax native Alex Livingston.
    Alex opens up about the early challenges of his career: taking literal chances with his education and life, his initial experiences at Casino Nova Scotia and in big money poker tournaments, his mistakes, and learning how to correct them while developing his style - most notably his first WSOP experience in 2009, and his 13th place WSOP Main Event finish in 2013.
    Alex opens up about his humbling experiences alongside some of pokers biggest names - both on and off the felt - and how to balance other hobbies & businesses with a professional poker career. He then shares some highlights and details from his incredible THIRD place finish at the 2019 WSOP Main Event, and how skill, luck, and a few moments of absolute chance were the ingredients to success during that run to the final table.
