On the last day of his quarantine, HFX Wanderers centre back and co-captain Peter Schaale joins me to talk about his downtime since the Island Games!

We talk about which quarantine/lock down was more difficult, adjusting this time around, and how it's impacted preparation for the new season. Peter shares news about his new opportunities the club have helped facilitate, and updates me on his citizenship and employment situation.

Peter also tells me about his time in Victoria this summer, how hard work humbles, and gives me his thoughts on past, present, and future teammates. I ask Peter how it feels to be named to CBU's all-decade team, and we once and for all settle on how to pronounce his last name.

Peter is beloved by all here in Halifax, and we are happy to hear he's returning for 2021, 2022, and hopefully beyond!

Dave's back! After the events of the Capitol & the Impeachment of Donald Trump, resident political guru David Robinson returns to talk all the goings on in the political world.

Before jumping into politics Dave and I take a trip through memory lane as we reflect on the career of Wayne Rooney. Dave, an Everton supporter and Liverpool native, talks about Rooney's early days, we briefly chat about his legacy with the national team, and Dave talks about how small the world is between his family and the Rooney family.

We then shift our focus to the topic at hand - POLITICS. We talk censorship and try to make sense of the big tech/mainstream media ban of Donald Trump & conservative voices. We drift into what defines a conspiracy and how these private businesses' are in uncharted waters with the sudden uprising of radicalism on social media.

We then talk impeachment: is it worth it? How does the process work? What happens after it's all said and done? On the even of Joe Bidens inauguration, Dave and I reflect on the finals days of the Trump presidency and where we project America to go over the next few months.

Lucky 13! I welcome my good friend & Halifax Mooseheads superfan Joey Maxwell to talk all things hockey!

The show starts with me ranting about why I didn't agree with this years World Juniors being played (Hint: TSN are greedy) while still being happy the tournament happened for the kids sake. Joey summarizes the tournament, underlining Canada's dominance en route to a silver medal in this years tournament.

Joey and I then get into who made us starstruck during our COVID podcasting adventures. Joey shares his time talking with the likes of Zach Fucale & George Stroumboulopoulos on the Shedtalk902 series, while I reflect on the time we interviewed Andi Petrillo on the Down the Pub podcast. We talk about the accessibility of celebrities during COVID and the processes surrounding them.

We get into some Moose talk, reflecting on some memories of the years past, discussing the future of the QMJHL and CHL in the midst of a pandemic, and what challenges face both governing bodies as the Memorial Cup inches closer. We talk about the void left in our community by the Mooseheads being fan-free and what the team may have to do to get fans back in the seats.

The day after the Capitol raid, my good friend Katy Jean and I decided to have a morning chat to make sense of the madness that was the Electoral College count. We talk about the foolishness and what we think truly triggered the mess. Katy gives me some advice on when she thinks the time is right to allow children media consumption, and also shares her experiences during COVID as a parent of a child with autism.
We dive into Katy's new found twitter fame and what generated her to make her thoughts and feelings about Justin Trudeau known, and viral. She explains how her love for Trudeau doesn't make her a fan or a Liberal, and expresses her honest opinion on Premier Stephen McNeil and how to juggle empathy with honesty.
Katy shares with me a couple of incredible stories about duping Faith Godly into appearing to support more progressive causes on twitter, and how she ended up on a set of a Stephen King production. She shares some insight into the goings on of the show, and she stares an Adrien Brody story that's worth a listen. Katy also underlines and projects that the Nova Scotia film industry will have a rebound in the coming years.

It's not an episode of My Name Is Searl without technical difficulties! A few hours late but nothing short of insight, I'm joined by Reel Kings Media founder and perennial Fantasy Football champion Geordon Lloyd, to talk all things NFL!

We start the show discussing absolutely nothing to do with football: WEED. We chat about our favorite strains before shifting to the the gridiron talk with a discussion about the true value of home field this year, and how the NFL can make competitive adjustments in case this happens again. I ask Geordon how he and his league adjusted to the wacky world of Fantasy Football, and what he did to keep things as normal (or abnormal) as possible. We shift to talk about Deshaun Watsons future in Houston, and where he ends up next year.

The conversation shifts to the college game where we talk about Alabama vs Ohio State, does Ohio State deserve to be in the big game, how can the CFP fix the playoff format, and I ask him who he thinks will win. We then get back to the NFL where we discuss if the NFL needs a draft lottery, if playoff expansion worked, and if we will see Week 18 next year. We finish the who talking about which veteran QBs legacy needs a super bowl the most, and we give out thoughts and predictions on the Super Wild Card Weekend.

Geordon is one of my favorite people to talk football with, and I hope you find his fluency in the game as enjoyable as I do.

"New year, new me?"

Listen to me rant about COVID, COVID, and more COVID - what it's done to my mind & focus, my motivation and surroundings, and what it's done to YOU and yours as well.

I spend the first bit of the show reflecting on the year that was, and the damage it's done to my stability as well as society itself. I give my thoughts and opinions on a few core issues and flail through dialogue to make a point that feeling defeated isn't the end of the world. In fact, it could be the start of a new one.

In the second half I react to your responses in the very first installment of "Show Topics" - on this lap we talk about the GOOD things that came from the lock downs, and how I relate to your feelings. I'm focused on making value in the tough spot 2020 left us in as we transition into 2021, so I hope you enjoy and take something of substance from today's show.

Happy holidays! Hope all your stomachs are full, your trees are bright and your resolutions are on pause as we move towards the new year. On this episode i'm blessed to be in the company of Jason Bruce, affectionately known as J-Bru, ECMA award winner, former professional basketball player, and a fathers rights advocate.

Me and Jay chat about the contradiction, hypocrisy and frustration with how the mask rules are applied and how we are maneuvering COVID. We chat about the sacrifice and commitment of Pat Stay & how to deal with negativity and hate. Jay gives me some insight into what he thinks makes Classified click, and why his career has spanned into a fourth decade.

We then switch our focus to sports, where Jay gives me his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers woes, why Nate Darlings situation is different than Lindell Wigginton's, and he gives me his thoughts on if boxing needs belt reform. We stick to boxing to talk why the Paul Brothers fighting makes and doesn't make sense, what MLB has done right and wrong with their rule changes, and what the Vancouver Canucks, and other sports teams with name and logo issues, can and can't (and should and shouldn't) do.

Jay and I shared two years coaching the Halifax Hurricanes U14 division 1 girls basketball team, and in those two years we quickly developed a lifelong brotherhood. This is a piece of what we used to talk about after games and practices when we were done talking ball.

On today's episode we are fortunate to be in the company of Marvin Okello, ticket sales manager and diversity & Inclusion officer for the Halifax Wanderers of the Canadian Premier League. We randomly catch up to talk about the Wanderers staff behind the scenes and the value of community engagement.
Marvin continues his conversation on the Down The Pub Podcast about spearheading inclusion and diversity league wide. We talk about a whole lot of legends from our time playing in the Nova Scotia Soccer League over the years. Marvin talks about his career and how our mutual connections are plentiful.
