  • The Architxct: Portrait and Fashion Photographer, creating for yourself, pursuing photography full time, and growing Instagram to over 18,500
    @The.Architxct is a fashion and portrait photographer based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He has accumulated over 18,700 followers on Instagram and has worked with brands like Mercedes and the Zargara Label.
    We’re going to discuss how he landed his first clients, what he did to grow his Instagram, what he would do if he had to start all over again, how he got over 270K YouTube views on a single video, and so much more!
    There is also a portion of the conversation where The Architxct talks buying likes on Instagram and it being a waste of time. I just want to give him props for being so open and honest in this episode.
    I also want to call out the audio quality of this episode, I had an issue with mic so it may sound off and a little staticy at points. I did my best to clean it up, and got it a long way from what it was but still not perfect.

  • Roland Bast: Travel and Wilderness Photographer, starting photography late, collaborating with tourism boards, and growing to 21K
    Roland Bast (@RolandBast) is a travel and wilderness and he is currently has over 21K on Instagram. He only started photography in 2014 when he was in his mid forties but has quickly established himself as a known photographer in the Ottawa area.
    He has worked with many different tourism and we’ll get into what is in his media kit, why his new blog helps him work with other tourism boards, and what makes a good collaboration. We’ll also look at how he grew his page when he started out in late 2014.

  • The Flute Guy: Growing to 13K in a year, working for NASA, and running directly at your fears
    Praveen, AKA The Flute Guy is a classical Indian Flute player. He has been playing the flute since he was a child and recently made it his full time job. Prior to that he studied at Oxford University, then he worked for Harvard. Following his stint at Harvard he became a NASA scientist and then following that is when he decided to become a musician full time.
    The Flute Guy travels all around the world playing the flute and he is also producing content for social media. Praveen had around 1,500 followers on Instagram last year and today he sits at over 13,000, averaging 1,590 new followers a month . He also produces content for Facebook (10,000 likes), YouTube (3,500 subscribers), and Twitter (250 followers). He was also in a band prior to going solo and they amassed hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.
    We discuss how he grew his following, his content strategy across all platforms, working for NASA, running directly at your fears and more.

  • Humans of Ottawa: Interviewing strangers and growing Instagram to 10.8K
    Eric is the creator of Humans of Ottawa. A page very similar to Humans of New York.
    Humans of Ottawa started as a assignment and has turned into an Instagram with over 10,500 followers. This didn't happen by accident, there was a previous Humans of Ottawa page that didn't takeoff the same way Eric's did.
    In this episode he'll explain how he treats each story with the utmost integrity and respect and wants to allow people to tell the story they want to tell. We'll also discuss what it's like going up to strangers on the street and having deep and emotional conversations with them.
    We also look at the tactical side as to how he grew the page. Eric get's really into a tactic he did with hashtags where he would rank on smaller hashtags in order to be featured by bigger hashtags.
    In the interview Eric said that this is something he has never done, so I am honoured that I was able to be his first ever interview. So please enjoy this unique interview and leave us a rating and review.
