Bebake Bains, a Business Management student majoring in Economics Management and Science, talks about her experience in the major and how she knew it was the right fit for her. Bebake is part of the Ted Rogers Economic Society (TRES), which is the course union for the major and shares how they support EMS students. She talks about what her classes were like in first-year and how they compare to her classes now that she declared her major. Bebake also goes to share how she was able to make friends in first-year and how she has made lasting connections.

Evan Bacal, a Business Management student majoring in Entrepreneurship and Strategy, shares his first-year experience and how he decided what major to pursue. He is also currently the President of the Toronto Metropolitan Sports and Business Association (TMSBA). Evan was debating between majoring in Marketing Management and Entrepreneurship and Strategy, but ultimately decided to major in Entrepreneurship because it is hands-on and the projects push students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, unleash their creativity and take action. 

Bavisha Thavarajah, Business Management student majoring in Human Resources Management, shares why she chose her major and how she built community at the Ted Rogers School. She is currently part of  Toronto Met Accounting, a TedPack Mentor, Co-op Connect Mentor, and an Academic Peer Helper. Bavisha discusses the different courses in the HRM major, courses, career pathways, and more. She talks about different opportunities on campus that students can take advantage of in their first- year to start engaging in the TRSM community. 

Abdullah Bhutta, a student in the a Business Technology Management student,  program, talks about his experience in the program. major. Abdullah is the current President of the Information Technology Management Students’ Association (ITMSA) which is the course union for the major. He goes on to share what students can expect from the program, courses, the Ted Rogers Co-op Program co-op program and talks about the advantages of being surrounded by different companies and being close to the financial district.

Maria Di Matteo, a 5th-year Marketing Management student shares how the Ted Rogers Co-op program helped her gain different experiences, which helped her navigate her career. She discusses experiencing different work environments in your co-op work terms and not being too picky to get a better understanding of what you like and do not like. 

Through her experience in the Ted Rogers Co-op Program, working in downtown Toronto and Alberta,  her work terms have given her clarity on what she wants to do with her career. Maria gives tips on how to stand out as an applicant and highlights how important having a strong LinkedIn profile is.

In this episode of the My Story in 30 podcast, Muhammed Saif or better known as Saif, a third-year Business Technology Management student, shares how he was able to pursue his passions while building his professional career. He discusses how he found his passions, what keeps him motivated, and how his passions helped lead him to professional opportunities.

Additionally, Saif shares the various supports he has taken advantage of. He applied to and won many scholarships awarded by TRSM and explains how he was able to find what scholarships he was eligible for. The Business Career Hub and his Co-op Coordinator helped him navigate during his co-op journey. He goes on to advise listeners to recognize what they like and take advantage of the opportunities around them.

Ifechkwu talks about how his personal life motivated him to do better in school and take charge of his education. His story shows the importance of taking advantage of the resources the school offers and putting yourself in uncomfortable situations to grow as an individual. 

Miguel talks about his interview experience with Oxford Properties and how he landed the role as well as what skills helped him get to the position he is in today with Simplii Financial. He shares what networking is like as an introvert and how he overcame it. 

Myuri Mohan, a fourth year Law and Business student discusses her journey dealing with workaholism and burnout. She explains her experience with over committing herself to academics, social activities and extracurriculars and how she came to the realization that she was burnout. 

Recovering from burnout is a process. Myuri speaks about how she feels like she has been dealing with it for years but how she took steps and accessed supports for her wellness. She recognizes the importance of living a balanced lifestyle, and how focusing on her personal development was just as important as professional development.
