In this discussion with Professor Emeritus James Walter, former chair of political science at Monash University, we discuss the distinctive features of Australian politics, parties, and its leaders. Greg Barns SC is a leading criminal barrister, former political advisor, and author. We first examine the appeal against the extradition to the United States of Julian Assange, who Greg first advised more than 10 years ago. Terry Carney AO is Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of Sydney Law School, where he was a long-serving Director of Research and past Head of Department. He was one of the first to raise his voice against the Robodebt scheme which he fell upon as a part-time member of the now defunct Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He has written extensively on issues such as automated decision-making, child welfare, and health law.
