Today’s episode is a bit longer than usual, but there was a lot that we wanted to discuss so its all good :)

Rose talks about the Devil, and compares it to the Chains and Shadowdance cards from two other decks. While Bitty can’t decide which myth she wants to relate to the card, so she talks about how Pan, Prometheus, and Dionysus all have aspects of the Devil card

.

There are three tarot decks that we mention today, and they are:

The Rider Waite Smith Tarot

The Celtic Dragon Tarot

Journey into the Hidden Realm (which we refer to as the Faery Tarot)

In today’s episode we talk about Temperance and Sophrosyne.

Announcement: how to clear your mind and prepare yourself for doing a tarot reading. It’s also important to have a good connection with your tarot reader.

Temperance: all about finding moderation in opposites and finding your balance, much like the yin yang symbol of balance. Finding the balance between purity and desire, duality, relationships, and the past and future coming together in the present.

Sophrosyne: a greek term that also means temperance, moderation, and self-control. Is seen in both epic poetry and tragedy, and it was also a political and ethical value.

Next week: The Devil and Prometheus

In today’s episode we discuss the Death card and the Castration of Ouranos.

Death is one of the most widely presented and misinterpreted card in the tarot deck. Death is unknowable and inescapable which makes it scary for us. The true meaning when it comes up in a reading is transformation. We look at the symbolism with the Death card, especially the flag and white rose, the people, and the skeleton riding a horse.

The Castration of Ouranos: Bitty relates the tale from Hesiod’s Theogony where Kronos castrates his father, and how this tale relates to the Death card.
