The gang is minus Max this week but plus b&b brewer Josh and Sarah from Indiana on Tap. With a lady in the room, they hold back the vulgarity...for a bit, but then all hell breaks loose as usual. Bryan got burned by hot water, Jason beefs on gas stations, Josh drinks too much, and Sarah plugs the new event America's Next Hop Model (and then spends a solid ten minutes getting chased by sharks while wearing a virtual reality headset). Somewhere along the line we taste some beers, talk movies, and Jason offers a simple three-step approach to dealing with your small business problems.
The gang almost immediately divulges into bad language, stupid arguments, and overall despicable behavior. What is wrong with us? The most redeeming part of this episode is when we discuss what kind of armor Bryan's Corgi, Wrigley, would have if he went into battle. Jason tries to redeem the episode with a few minutes of business talk in the second half but everyone is too drunk by then to put together a coherent thought.
It's a special Sunday edition of the show since Max was sick on Thursday and it's like the last day of school before summer. Despite the episode title, the gang spends most of their time arguing about Waterworld, beefing on Menards, and discussing beer. Max says dirty words. Jason yells at Max. Bryan giggles. Special guest and Marketing Intern / Bartender Ana comes on the show at the end while Jason drones on about adapting your business model on the fly, listening to criticism, and trying to figure out if Books & Brews is going to expand or not.
The gang takes some time to recap the epic Employee Appreciation video before chatting about what to look for when trying to find a location for your business. They also jabber about marketing and making sure your business has a clear identity. In the second half they run out of things to talk about and mostly just babble about movies and beatbox for a while.
The gang talks about words and phrases to use to bust people out of their retail script haze and how your employees can use it to make a customer feel like a regular in less than 30 seconds. The rest of the episode is mostly about us making fun of Four Loko, the beer of the week, our guilty pleasure of the week, and other nonsense that I can't remember right now because my head hurts.
Thanks to some outside criticism, the gang tries to keep the podcast moving with some solid information and advice on opening your own business. Aside from our normal shenanigans, we discuss why it's important to never forget the people - customers and friends alike - that helped your business grow from the very beginning.
The gang gets the silliness out of their system in the first half of the episode and then gets serious in the second half to discuss crowd funding
The gang wings it for 90 straight minutes. Along the way they discuss Old English + Grape Drink and Jason tries to class it up with some book discussion (to no avail). It's a bunch of nonsense, but it's worth a few chuckles. Max says dirty words.
The gang builds off last episode's silliness by breaking down Fruit Punch Four Loko, Nic Cage movies, and explains why your employees are a bunch of worthless jerks.
The gang drinks beer, breaks into song, beefs on Miracle Whip, and discusses how to keep it light around the workplace.
