Power. You ever get the feeling that you have it but aren't particularly sure how to use it? As a husband or wife. As a parent. As a person of increasing wealth and reputation. As a "child" that feels like you have none but in fact have far more than you may soon appreciate. Relationally, emotionally, financially, organizationally...we have power. Sometimes we crave more. Sometimes we feel the world would be far better if we had none. What if navigating the Burden of Power requires that we embrace two things simultaneously, namely authority and vulnerability? What if we're meant to pursue greater authority and greater vulnerability all the time? What are the dynamics of exploiting power?

We say Narrate wants to be the kind of community that leaves room for people on both sides of the political aisle to pursue and follow Jesus, but how? The idea of being a diverse community with robust difference of opinion and yet unified in our desire to serve God by serving people in Helena is a great concept, but how do we keep it more than an empty platitude? For two weeks we're going to delve deep into the difficult world of spiritual conviction and politics. In part one, we want to explore the fondations of healthy political conversation. How can we be both convicted and civil? Then in part two, we're going to take about the myriad ways Christ-followers can, have and do approach politics, especially in a democratic state. What are the 5 different historical Christian approaches to politics and government? At the very least we think this will help you understand your bias and thus better respect that of those whom you disagree. So whether you're someone with a strong opinion of who should win the upcoming presidential election, or you're someone who is mostly disenchanted with the whole scene, we hope you'll join us. We think it could help you dialogue more honorably and could even help you better understand who you hold the views you hold.

What if our resources and possessions are a relational tool, test, and trademark?

What does it look like to focus in a culture that seems to be doing all it can to keep us from doing so? We sit down to work on a problem or formulate an idea, only to find ourselves answering email. We go to dinner with a friend and spend time majority of the time tending to texts and social media pings. And then there's our kids! How do we help them navigate a world deeply influenced by constant connection and novel Internet stimulation? How is it impacting the way we think? What's it doing to all of our ability to relate? I think we all have a sense that the Internet in general and smartphones in particular have dramatically changed our lives. But have we stopped to consider how? What if there's a tremendous advantage to be found in engaging technology differently? In getting intentional by creating well researched boundaries. What if those healthy iPhone boundaries are certain to gain an advantage in creativity, productivity, and connection? This is a series about how the Internet and its myriad devices impact our ability to think and relate to others. It endeavors to delve into our need to create boundaries for iPhones, the Internet, and the vast array of web tools. What's the value of conversation?
