In this week's episode of Navigating Advocacy, we journey to Yuma, Arizona, a city drenched in sunshine and history. But beneath the picturesque facade lies a chilling mystery that still haunts this community. Our story revolves around the life of 10-year-old Amberly Ann Mendoza, a bright and adventurous young girl.
One fateful night in 1996, during a family gathering, something unimaginable happened. While everyone celebrated, Amberly made her rounds, saying her goodnights like a responsible child. Little did they know, it would be the last time they'd see her alive. Amberly's legacy lives on through the Amberly's Place Family Advocacy Center, established to support victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and more in Yuma County.
We encourage our listeners to support Amberly's Place and their critical work. If you have any information related to the murder of Amberly Ann Mendoza, please contact the Yuma Police Department at 928.373.4700 or remain anonymous by calling 928.782.7463
