New inflation numbers came in lower than expected. October's Consumer Price Index was 3.2%, down from September’s 3.7%, and the core CPI (which excludes food and energy prices) dropped one-tenth to 4.0%. Still, the numbers remain higher than the Fed’s goal of 2%.
