Elim wasn’t just an oasis; it was a reminder that God provides exactly what we need at the right time. Why do you think God led the Israelites to Elim, a place of rest, after the bitter waters of Marah? What does this teach us about His character?
Pastor shared about four different psychological connections that we might have with this story, or the events surrounding this story.  You do not need to cover all of them but is there any one of them that stands out to you?
Negativity Bias: Why do you think it’s easier to focus on what’s going wrong rather than what’s going right? How can we shift our focus to gratitude in difficult situations?
Familiarity Bias: The Israelites often longed for Egypt, even though it represented slavery. Why do we sometimes cling to familiar patterns, even when they’re unhealthy? How can we trust God to lead us into new and better things?
Cognitive Dissonance: Have you ever faced a situation where your expectations of God didn’t match your reality? How did you resolve that tension in your faith?
Scarcity Mentality: Do you ever find yourself focusing on what you lack rather than what God has already provided? How can we learn to trust God’s provision instead of our fears?
Where in your life do you need an “Elim moment” of rest and refreshment? How can you create space to meet with God in those moments?

  • Searching For…..Belonging
    Belonging
Have you ever walked into a room full of people and still felt alone? Or wondered why, no matter how much you do, it never feels like enough? We’re all searching for belonging, but too often, we look in the wrong places—performance, approval, relationships—only to be left feeling empty.  This week, we’re diving into what it really means to belong. John 14:18 reminds us that Jesus never leaves us searching—“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” True belonging isn’t something we achieve; it’s something we receive. Join us as we unpack how to stop searching and start living in the love that’s already ours.

Read John 14:18 – “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”  What does this verse reveal about God’s heart for us?   How does this speak to the human desire to belong?
Read Romans 8:15 – “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.”  What does it mean to be adopted into God’s family?  How does knowing you are a child of God change the way you see yourself?
The older brother in the Prodigal Son story was in the father’s house but still felt disconnected. How do we sometimes live that way in our faith?
What’s one area of your life where you feel like you don’t fully belong? How can you invite God into that space?
This week, how can you be more intentional about helping someone else feel like they belong?

  • Ready, Set, Let’s Go – From Bitter to Better
    From Bitter to Better
Have you ever found yourself stuck in a bitter season, wondering if things could ever get better? In this message, we dive into Exodus 15:23-26, where the Israelites face their first test after crossing the Red Sea. Through the bitterness of Marah and the wilderness of Shur, we’ll explore how God uses moments of testing to transform our hearts, deepen our trust, and reveal Himself as the God who heals. Discover how to move from bitter to better by trusting in God’s provision and grace—even in the hardest seasons.
    Exodus 15:23-26

The Desert of Shur was a place of testing and trust. What are some "wilderness" moments in your life where you felt stuck or limited? How did you see God working through that season?
At Marah, the Israelites’ response to bitterness was grumbling. How do you typically respond when faced with disappointments or unmet expectations? How might choosing trust over bitterness change your perspective?
The wood thrown into the bitter water symbolized God’s power to transform. What areas of bitterness in your life need to be surrendered to God? How can you invite Him to bring healing and transformation?
God revealed Himself as "The Lord Who Heals" at Marah. In what ways have you experienced God’s healing—physically, emotionally, or spiritually? How can you share that testimony to encourage others?

  • Ready, Set, Let’s Go – Another Dead End
    Another Dead End
Have you ever felt like God led you straight into a dead end? This week in our "Ready, Set, Let’s Go!" series, we’re exploring Exodus 14 and the moment the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s advancing army. It looked like there was no way out—but what if dead ends aren’t the end at all? What if they’re the perfect environment for God’s deliverance? Through this story, we’ll see how God uses obstacles to prepare us for His promises. Sometimes He leads us into difficult places, not to harm us, but to ensure we won’t go back to old habits, fears, or temptations. The Red Sea wasn’t the Israelites’ defeat—it was their path to freedom, and God’s ultimate display of His glory.  Let’s stop looking back and start trusting the One who makes a way where there is no way.

    Leave the Map Behind
Have you ever felt like you’re standing at the edge of something new, but the thought of leaving the familiar behind feels overwhelming? What does it mean to trust God completely when the path ahead is unclear? This week, in our new series "Ready, Set, Let’s Go!", we’re diving into the story of the Israelites’ journey out of Egypt, beginning with the critical first steps from Rameses to Sukkoth. Just as the Israelites had to rely on God’s presence to guide them day and night, we’ll explore how you can step into your next chapter by leaving the map behind and letting God lead. Join us as we reflect on God’s faithfulness in the past and His promise to guide us into the unknown. It’s time to leave Egypt and step into freedom!

Exodus 13:3 reminds us to commemorate what God has done. How can you create a practice in your life to remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness?
Nearly 56 times after this event, God reminds the Israelites that He brought them “out of Egypt.” How can you use your personal testimony to encourage someone else this week?

This Christmas season, amidst all the hustle and bustle, it is easy to get swept up in the presents, the traditions, and the festivities. But at the heart of it all, we are reminded that Jesus is the true reason for this holiday season. Through the timeless words of Luke 2, beautifully quoted in A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the joyous proclamation of "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing," we celebrate Heaven's greatest gift to the world—Jesus Christ. In this special family service, let us refocus our hearts and remember that the light of Christmas is found in the Savior who came to bring hope, joy, and salvation to all.

The Joy Brough by Jesus' Birth
In this week's Carols and Cinema message, The Joy Brought by Jesus’ Birth, we explore the timeless carol Joy to the World alongside the whimsical story of Elf. Just as Buddy the Elf leaves the comfort of the North Pole to bring joy and connection to a broken family, Jesus stepped out of heaven to reconcile us to God and fill our lives with unspeakable joy. Through Buddy’s relentless pursuit of joy and his father's transformation from comparison and performance to love and relationship, we see echoes of the gospel message. True joy isn’t found in circumstances or achievements; it’s found in Jesus, who brings lasting transformation to our hearts. Join us as we rediscover the power of joy and the invitation to share it with the world!

The Peace and Serenity Brought by Jesus' Birth
This week in The Carols & Cinema of Christmas Unwrapped, we explore The Nativity Story and the profound peace found in the chaos of Mary and Joseph’s journey. Despite unexpected news, societal judgment, and a long trip to Bethlehem, they experienced a calm only God can give.  As we reflect on their story and the song Silent Night, we’ll be reminded that true peace isn’t found in our circumstances, but in the presence of our Savior, Jesus.
    Luke 1, Luke 2, Matthew 1, Matthew 2
    Discussion topics
Reflect on the 400 years of silence before God spoke to Zechariah. Have you ever experienced a season where God felt silent? How did you respond? What are some ways you intentionally create space to hear God’s voice? What might be hindering you from doing this consistently?
Mary said “yes” to God’s direction before understanding the destination. Have you ever had to obey God without knowing the full plan? What was that experience like? What is one area of your life where you need to surrender fully to God’s will, even if it doesn’t make sense yet?
The Magi came to Jesus bearing gifts. What does “bringing your best” to God in worship look like in your daily life?

  • Carols and Cinema of Christmas – The Longing for the Savior
    The Longing for the Savior
This week, we kick off our new Christmas series, Carols and Cinema of Christmas Unwrapped, with a message titled The Longing for the Savior. As we explore the beloved hymn O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and dive into the timeless story of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, we’ll uncover how both the carol and the movie reflect the deep, universal longing for redemption and hope. Just as the Pevensie siblings long for deliverance from Narnia's eternal winter, we, too, yearn for the Savior to bring light and life into our world. Join us as we reflect on the promises of God, the fulfillment found in Jesus, and the joy of Christmas that breaks through every shadow. This is a message of anticipation, hope, and the ultimate gift of Emmanuel—God with us. Don’t miss this inspiring beginning to the season!
    Isaiah 9:2
    Discussion topics
Read Isaiah 9:2. What do you think it means to "see a great light" while walking in darkness? How have you experienced this in your own life?
Like Narnia’s “always winter but never Christmas,” we sometimes feel stuck in a season of waiting or longing. What are some areas in your life where you feel like you’re in a perpetual winter? How does the promise of Emmanuel bring hope to those areas?
Edmund’s story in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe illustrates the danger of being lured by false promises. What are some “Turkish delights” in our culture that tempt us away from trusting in God’s plans? How can we resist them?
ACTION STEP- As a group, discuss one way you can bring hope to someone who feels like they are in a perpetual winter this season. Is there a practical way to show the love of Emmanuel to your community?
