NBA Straya

An EXTRA SPECIAL NBA STRAYA this week, as we are joined by Adam from FWCI Etc & World Wrestling Straya to talk about the utterly INSANE Karl Malone - Dennis Rodman NWO WCW wrestling match allll the way back in 1998. It's an awesome, weird trip down memory lane... talking about a 2x NBA MVP and a 2x NBA DPOY ... WRESTLING. IN A TAG TEAM MATCH! WITH HULK HOGAN! AND DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE! So weird. So awesome.

It's a very fun chat with Adam talking all things 90s basketball and wrestling... with PLENTY covered in between.

Get RIGHT around it & hope you dig it!

Chris Anstey -- former Dallas Maverick, Chicago Bull, NBL MVP, NBL Champ & all-round legend -- joins the show this week for an AWESOME, wide-ranging chat about watching the Boomers win Rose Gold in Tokyo, the difference in Josh Giddey's draft experience compared to his own, how Josh will fit in OKC, and -- just like his book Tall Tales --- everything in between. There's hoops, life, booze & heaps more.

Seriously - we talk about a bunch of different things: what he learned while writing his book & reliving some of the stories he imparts, and just like last week's chat with Ryan Broekhoff, there's a bunch of DAD STRAYA in there, which is super fun. The Boomers stuff is particularly fun & cool - you'll love it.

Get RIGHT around it. It's once again a great, honest chat with the great man himself, Chris Anstey!

Hope you dig it.

Rowdy Ryan Broekhoff - Friend of the Show & Recurring Guest - returns to NBA Straya this week to chat about all things NBA & the harsh reality of the business of basketball -- like being let go by the Mavs, joining the Sixers & being waived before last season... as well as coming home, why his Boomers medal dreams had to be put on hold and HEAPS, HEAPS MORE. Absolutely LOVE having Rowdy on... so you will too!

In fact... I reckon some of the best stuff in here is talking 'Dad' stuff, and what it's like being in that weird limbo of 'waiting' to see if you get signed... so get RIGHT around it. It's a great, honest look at the rigours of being a pro athlete, and the toll it can take.

Hope you dig it.

GO BOOMERS! 💚💛

WELL. THAT SUCKED. Team USA stomped the Boomers, as the Aussies got up 15 in the 2nd Q, with them raising our expectation then dashing them quite expertly. The Boomers fell apart across the end of the 2nd Q and the start of the 3rd Q... and as a result will now play in the Bronze medal game... So. Jimmy is a sad panda. ALSO. Some free agency stuff. But also... look. It's okay. THE BOOMERS MADE THE OLYMPIC SEMIS! THAT'S HUGE! they lost to Team USA... and still have a crack at bronze. we're proud as hell no matter what.

Right. Well. OTHER STUFF in today's show... Kemba is off to the Knicks... that's pretty big. Spender Dinwidde got added to the Rusty Westbrook trade... that makes it a 5-team trade... but STILL.. TH EBOOMER WERE UP 15 ON Team USA IN AN OLYMPIC SEMI FINAL! FKKKKKKKK.

So, we break that down and figure out where it fell apart (the bit where wee didn't score for 7 mins was maybe it) and look at the Australia-Team USA semi final in the NBA Straya Game Wrap! We'll examine how it all went down & what to take away from another heartbreaking Boomers defeat.

There's also YEAH NAHS - the Unpopular Opinion of the Day & Outback Takehouse, where we're serving up a Flame Grilled Take!! And some combo Grey Mamba & Hammer Awards....

Aaaaand to finish off, a song!

AND REMEMBER - we'll be live streaming Slovenia-France tonight as well as the Boomers Bronze Medal game with you on Saturday over on our facey!
