There are cool people all over Holly Springs doing great things here. This week, I sat down with Leilana Warren, one of the Special Needs Ministry Coordinators of Hope Community Church, and chatted with her about a fantastic event they have coming up in February for special needs teens and their families.

I sat down with the founders of Pawfect Match Rescue to talk about the puppy that was stolen from one of their events this weekend and the flurry of activity immediately after that ultimately led to the puppy being returned.
This is an AMAZING organization and you won't believe the number of dogs they've been responsible for rescuing.
There were sooooo many dogs in the room with us, climbing on our laps and wanting belly rubs and leaving as quickly as they appeared. The sound is way off in some parts and I do apologize for that.
These are the answers you want about how the theft of Pisa the puppy happened and how the group was reunited with her right around 24 hours later!

This is the LAST episode before election day next week, so I sat down with each of the five (well, sort of...listen for details on that) candidates for the two seats up for election on the Holly Springs Town Council.
I had a give-or-take 10-minute conversation with each of the five folks who put themselves out there to get one of the seats, and put it all together in one episode for today. This is their last pitch for your vote. Please listen and choose wisely.
But remember that there are human beings behind these five brave souls. It's hard to step forward when others hang back with the aim of criticizing. They all want what's best for our town, I'm certain of that.

This episode is dedicated to the memory of Scout Undercoffer and his family.
A family in our community lost a child a few days ago under tragic circumstances, and all of Holly Springs is devastated for them. Scout Undercoffer was a force in his life and we need to make sure we all learn the lessons his death leaves for us.
Scout's family has asked that memorial donations be made in his name to the LGBT Center of Raleigh. I sat down with their Executive Director, Lindsey Lughes to talk about the LGBT population in general and about what we can do to promote acceptance and inclusion.

Please consider making a donation in Scout's name to the LGBT Center of Raleigh as her parents have asked. It's going to make a huge impact on a lot of local lives.
Wow, wow, wow. Our Holly Springs High School Colla Voce choral ensemble has been invited to participate in a VERY prestigious event this winter, the London International Choral Festival.
I sat down with the ensemble's director, Jenny Patchett, and the Choral Boosters' Patron Chair, Barbara Koch on October 10 at the school to talk about the trip and about the money they're trying to raise so the cost of the trip is within reach to ALL of the students in the group.
Only FOUR groups in the entire United States were invited, and our own Holly Springs High School is part of it. This is something we should be EXTREMELY proud of!

Don't call it a dump. It's a landfill.
This week, I sat down with John Roberson, Solid Waste Management Director for Wake County. He's the person you receive emails from when you submit an odor complaint for the South Wake Solid Waste Landfill on the Apex/Holly Springs border.
We chatted about what I’d learned on the tour, what was being done to ameliorate the odor problem and a little about the future of the landfill. We also talked about things we as citizens can do to help, and I was also schooled on the topic of why we shouldn’t call the landfill “a dump.”
