This week Mike H and Mike S talk about the seminal classic Trouble Every Day by Claire Denis. Back in the late 90’s and early years of the 21st century, there was a wave of intense, violent French films dubbed “The New French Extremity”. Trouble Every Day hit our shores as part of this wave along with the work of Gaspar Noe, Julien Maury, Alexandre Bustillo, Coralie Thi and a host of others. Though, “Trouble” is extreme, it also smolders in an heavy, emotional atmosphere that sets it apart from some of the other more over-the-top films.
Intro: “Necromaniacs” – composed/recorded by Mike Hill
Outro: “Another Night In” - Tindersticks
