This week is Palm Sunday and we will continue our new sermon series, titled The Road to the Cross, as we proclaim "The King Has Come!" Reflect on Luke 19:28-44 as we prepare for this week's message.

Luke 19:37-38 - As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

This week, we will begin a new sermon series, titled The Road to the Cross. Craig Wilson will deliver our first message of the series, Reflect on John 11:17-57 as we prepare to hear about Jesus, the great I am, and what that means for us.

John 11:25-26 - Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

You thought to yourself there was no way this house has any hope to be repaired nonetheless made beautiful again. But for a home restoration expert, she might genuinely say about the house, "Well, this looks promising!"

Believe it or not, we come now to the last chapter of Hosea. Throughout our journey through Hosea, we have seen God's faithful pursuit of His people, God's people's consistent rejection of Him, and God's promise of judgment in hopes of their repentance. In chapter 14, however, we are provided insight from a Home Restoration Expert. As God looks at His rebellious and broken-down sinful people, He genuinely says to them, "Well, they look promising!"

The primary sin issue for Israel in Hosea is that they have forgotten God. This is their root problem that then leads to misplaced dependencies. What about us? Have we forgotten God? Or said another way, have we forgotten the benefits of being in Christ that leads us to be ineffective and unfruitful in our faith? We are officially in the season of Lent!

How are we, like the Israelites, quick to forget how God has provided for us and taken such care for us? All that we are and have belongs to God. How can we honor Him in that?

One of the greatest stumbling blocks to Christianity, especially among those who are drawn to the idea of a loving, compassionate God, is the Bible’s teaching on judgment. Jesus, who was full of compassion and gave his life because God so loved the world, spoke more about judgment than most other subjects. As we turn our attention to Hosea 9:1-9, Hosea declares with certainty that God's judgment is coming. Listen to the message to hear that there is also mercy in God's judgment.

As we turn our attention to Hosea 8, we are reminded of the importance of a life of repentance. Martin Luther opened the Reformation by nailing the "Ninety-five Theses" to the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. The very first of the theses stated that "our Lord and Master Jesus Christ . . . willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance."
