This Sunday we turn our attention to the Shepherds. The Shepherds and the events surrounding them tell us much about the message of Christmas. By studying what they did we can learn about how we should be responding to the promises of Christmas.

This Sunday we continue part 2 of our 3-part series entitled "The Light Has Dawned." We will focus on the events within Bethlehem.

This famous account of the birth of Jesus is unique to the book of Matthew. Wise men — sages and magicians from Eastern lands — came to Jerusalem when Jesus was a very young child still in Bethlehem. They came searching for the one “who has been born king of the Jews.” What will they find?

Reflect on Isaiah 9:2, 5-7.

The whole book of Hosea is from one angle a study of what it means to turn back to God. It is a story of reconciliation and renewal. We see it with Hosea and Gomer; we see it with God and His Bride. It is the story of God's faithful love to His bride and His desire for them to enjoy and embrace His love for them and to love Him as a result.

God relentless commitment to restore His people to Himself is shown in His clear warning of punishment and promise of life in Hosea 5 and 6.

This week we return to our Hosea series: Relentless: God's Relentless love. As we look at Hosea 4, God invites us to see how a heavenly court works bringing charges against His people. He provides legal proceedings in hopes to restore them to Himself. God will use whatever it takes to bring His people back to Himself. He still loves us with this kind of relentless love.

God cares deeply about the plight of the orphan. He ultimately shows His passion for this with the adoption of us, His sons and daughters. This Sunday - Orphan Sunday - Christians all over the world are celebrating Christ's love for orphans and uniting together to fight for them and incarnate God's love in word and deed. Pastor Jeff will bring the Word to us with his message on Galatians 3:26-7:7 titled "The Apex of Our Faith: Enjoying our Adoption." You may know that Pastor Jeff and his wife Val are adoptive parents and have fostered as well. Our theme for this first Orphan Sunday at NPC is "Everyone Can Do Something!" My challenge for you is to be praying about what is YOUR thing? How is God calling you to show His love to vulnerable children?

Fourth in the Hosea Sermon Series

We have been learning about the relentless, pursuing love of God, as seen in the life of Hosea. This week we maintain that theme of unquenchable love, as seen elsewhere in scripture - especially in eighth chapter of the book of Romans. We will also consider the considerable impact that God’s love should have on our lives - specifically on our head, our heart, and our hands.

Third in the Hosea Sermon Series

Unfaithful, disobedient, and the worship of idols and other "gods" describes many of God's people during the time of Hosea, throughout history and even today. Yet God still relentlessly pursues His people. This Sunday we will see God's relentless love expressed in mercy and His commitment to buy them back and once again be their True Husband. Reflect on Hosea 2:14-3:5.

Second in the Hosea Sermon Series

This week's passage, Hosea 1:2-3:5, shows God's heart towards his people as that of a husband toward his beloved and likens Israel to an unfaithful spouse. But even in her unfaithfulness, God in His mercy does not give up on them. Friends, that is still true today. God does not give up on us--Look to Jesus!

Relentless: God's Relentless Love. The journey begins with looking at the man Hosea. Who is He? What is his message and his mission? I like how one describes what influenced Hosea: "Hosea's transforming experience was not a vision of the holiness of God, nor a meeting with the risen Jesus. It was a difficult marriage! God overruled in Hosea's life to bring him through a very painful experience." It was through this intense suffering that brought him to know the relentless and covenantal love of God and to make that love known to God's people.
