At the root of all human desire is a longing be known and loved. Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well is an amazing lesson on how God sees us, knows us, loves us, and transforms us. Jesus’ communities are humans who have encountered him and come to understand themselves as loved so that they can love others.

At the end of John the Baptist’s ministry he displayed a heart that was fully confident in God’s good plans for his life. He didn’t find his joy in fame or in increasing his platform but in pointing to Jesus. We can learn and apply much from the Baptist’s attitude as he pointed to Jesus above all else.
