John the Baptist was the eccentric older cousin of Jesus of Nazareth. He had separated himself from the corruption of his culture and escaped into the wilds of the Judean deserts. In the silence and solitude, John's message formed. His words paved the way for the coming of the Messiah. Today, the church must once again separate herself from the chaos to discern God's voice that we might prepare the way of the Lord in this generation.

God is working through our lives not only in this life but in the generations of lives that will come after us. Pursuing humility, living with integrity, and growing in intimate communion with Jesus are the key factors for leaving a godly legacy. While our lives will be pockmarked with points of failure, in Jesus Christ all things are made new. He works all things for our good and the food of those who come after us! To be remembered as forgiven, humble servants is a glorious thing.
