Why would 21st-century urbanites form their lives around an ancient text like the Bible? The answer is because Jesus did. As apprentices of Jesus, we know Him through the Bible, we become like Him as the stories that shaped Him shape us, and we do what He did as we obey the Bible that He obeyed.

When Jesus of Nazareth launched the church planting movement that would change the face of history and humanity forever He gave some very specific instructions to those first apprentices, "Wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit." Join with us in prayer as we wait on, pray for, and obey the Holy Spirit in thought, word, and deed.

Our souls are malleable, that is to say, we are shaped and formed by what we believe and do. The practice of stopping work, resting, delighting in, and contemplating God once a week--Sabbath-keeping--has been given to humans as a gift for our flourishing. Sabbath restores us and reminds us that we were created for intimate union with God.
